I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Absolutely ridiculous! Every structure should be flattened before ground forces move in to mop up.
Israeli tanks are firing on high rises in Gaza City and IDF troops are cautiously moving in. Hamas is hiding in its bunkers and if it turns down the Egyptian ceasefire proposal, its going to find its plight getting worse by the hour. I recall people predicted the American occupation of Baghdad would end in a bloodbath. It turned out to be a piece of cake. Israel is not going to just dash blindly into Gaza City but it is demonstrating to the Hamas leaders and terror gangs it controls the environment in and around the city. Any move Hamas makes to try to break out will be checkmated by Israel. Set, game and match.
Norman, Gaza City is in northern Gaza.
There's nothing to stop the fighting from continuing on in mid and especially southern Gaza.
