Gilad Shalit wounded?

An Egyptian newspaper reports on Monday morning that kidnapped IDF corporal Gilad Shalit was wounded in an IAF airstrike on Gaza Sunday. The extent of his injuries, if any, is not known.

Israeli officials responded that this may be psychological warfare by Hamas, and that Hamas is responsible for Shalit's well-being with all that implies.

Israel Radio's 8:00 AM news reports that Egyptian radio reported on Monday morning that Hamas refused to confirm or deny the report.

Gilad Shalit is probably dead. No one knows his true condition and Hamas has refused to provide the International Red Cross with access to him, in violation of the Geneva Conventions. So let's remember the kind of people Israel is having to fight now.

My first thought on Saturday night, after Shabbat, when I first heard the news of the attack, was that the government and the IDF are simply irresponsible idiots.

Within 1 minute after the attack, Israel's leader (OK, there is none) should have gone staright on every TV and radio braodcast, told the Arab shmucks they have exactly one hour to deliver Shalit, alive and without even a scratch, to Israel. If not, the next bombing would commence ASAP and would be 20 times worse.

Stupid Jews.

It really wouldn't have made much difference. Enough warning had been given, including the terms for handing over Shalit.
Following the examples of Rechev and Goldwasser it may well be that Shalit is dead or will be by the time Hamas hand him, in whatever form, over. Until then, Israel has to do what is in its interest, which, right now is destroying a large part of Hamas's infrasturcture if not the whole movement altogether.

I hate to say it, but like Goldwasser and Regev, Shalit has probably been killed by those animals. Those bloodthirsty arabs can't hold themselves back from killing, even if it is tactically beneficial.

The leak that Shalit was wounded was probably a ploy by Hamas to blame his death on the Israeli bombing.
