Interesting Hearing March 8

The US House of Representatives Committee on International Relations, Subcommittee on the Middle East and Central Asia will be holding a hearing Wednesday afternoon entitled Palestinian Authority Elections: Implications for Peace, Regional Security, and U.S. Assistance. The most interesting part is the "U.S. Assistance" part. One of the people testifying before the Committee, which is chaired by Florida Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, is Mr. Ben Zimmerman, who is the project leader of the American-Israeli Demographic Research Group. Those are the people who did that survey that showed that all the estimates of 'Palestinian' population are overstated by one million people (due to problems with Blogger right now, I cannot access my own blog to give you a link!).

In this regard, you may also wish to view a presentation that was made at the American Enterprise Institute on February 23, 2006 called The Million Person Gap, and a study by the same name (The Million Person Gap) published by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University. Mr. Zimmerman is a co-author of each of those studies.
