The US isn't releasing a letter to Israel on the 'settlement freeze' extension because the 'Palestinians'
won't agree to it. And note that it's NOT because of the freeze's terms.
Palestinian refusal to return to the negotiating table even if a 90-day settlement freeze is in place has delayed the anticipated agreement between Israel and the US for a package of incentives in exchange for such a moratorium, The Jerusalem Post has learned from sources close to the issue.
As a result, there is no formal document to date which sets out the terms of the incentive package which was hammered out last Thursday in a day long meeting between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Siniora hits back at Hezbullah
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora hit back at an
accusation by a Hezbullah MP that he attempted to
prolong the 2006 Second Lebanon War in the hope that the IDF would succeed in destroying Hezbullah.
Saniora, in a late-night statement issued by his office, said his government had rejected a U.S.-French proposal back then that suggested the deployment of a multinational force without mention to Shebaa Farms or the seven-point cease-fire plan crafted by the Saniora Cabinet.
Instead, Saniora said, the Lebanese government insisted on a comprehensive cease-fire deal that includes an Israeli withdrawal behind the Lebanese border and the deployment of both the Lebanese army and the peacekeeping forces.
It wasn't Siniora's government that attempted to drag out the war. It was Israel and at the beginning of the war it was the United States. The US wanted Israel to finish off Hezbullah, and the Olmert government was willing to do it - but only if they didn't get their hands dirty.
It's a shame Olmert is such a coward. He could have rid Israel of a dangerous enemy.

Hezbullah accuses Lebanese government of prolonging 2006 war
In a Thursday night speech, Hezbullah leader Hassan
Nasrallah accused the government of Fouad Siniora of prolonging the Second Lebanon War in 2006 in the hope that Hezbullah would be wiped out.
Bush expresses his disappointment in his book, where he said that he was surprised by the poor Israeli performance. He adds that Israel missed the chance to eliminate the Resistance while it had the support of all the great states.
Lebanon’s steadfastness, army, and people were what stopped the war against Lebanon. Bush said in his book that he stopped the war to rescue Israel in the final weeks, not for Lebanon’s sake or its children, but for Israel’s. Do March 14’s leaders accept this evaluation from their master George Bush?
We have the right to ask in the name of the 1140 martyrs from the July War, are there political leaders in Lebanon who asked for a war to be launched against the Resistance in Lebanon?
All the world, the UN and the Americans and the French and the Security Council, was satisfied with a ceasefire. Your government was not pleased that the Israeli war against Lebanon stop. We have the right to open this file in the name of our martyrs, but we are not calling for a justice council nor the regular judiciary. We said, let us cooperate together to rebuild Lebanon emerging from the war.

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawwaf Moussawi said on Friday that former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora’s aim was to “terminate the Resistance in exchange for halting [Israeli] aggression [during the 2006 July War].”
“Siniora wanted to put an end to the Resistance,” Moussawi told Al-Manar television.
Just another reminder of the opportunity lost through the cowardice of Olmert, Peretz and Halutz (who is now trying to mount a political career) in the summer of 2006.
