UN declares 'international year of solidarity' with the 'Palestinian people'
The United Nations has declared 2014 the 'international year of solidarity' with the '
Palestinian people.' To 'celebrate' their obsession, the UN added
six more anti-Israel resolutions.
The UN General Assembly passed six more resolutions concerning Israel on
Monday, including one that called for Israel to return the Golan
Heights to Syria.
Of the six resolutions one said Israel should
cease imposing its jurisdiction on Jerusalem and another one, labeled
68/L.12, declared 2014 the “International Year of Solidarity with the
Palestinian People.”
This resolution calls on the Committee on
the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People to
“organize activities to be held during the year.”
Of the other
three resolutions, one praised the Secretariat’s Division of Palestinian
Rights for its role in “raising international awareness of the question
of Palestine;” the second called for a peaceful settlement to the
conflict and said that Israel, as “the Occupying Power,” must “comply
strictly with its obligations under international law,” and the third
advocated for the “dissemination of information on all the activities of
the United Nations system relating to the question of Palestine and the
peace process.”
It's long past time to close the United Nations....

I hope you'll all forgive the Hebrew title, but it's kind of hard to translate meaningfully. Let me explain.
In Jewish law, when certain fast days fall on Saturday, we put them off to Sunday. The exception to this is the Fast of Esther, which is advanced to Thursday. The reason? Because the other fast days that are put off relate to tragedies and we don't advance the observance of tragedies. The Fast of Esther (just before Purim), on the other hand, is related to the war in which the Jews routed the Persians, and does not recall a tragedy. If it falls on Saturday, we advance it to Thursday (which is good because Purim in such a case would come out on Sunday except in certain cities in Israel where it would come out on Monday).
Now that I have confused you totally, I'm sure you all understand why I used a four-word Hebrew phrase to title this post.
I would have thought that much of the United Nations would consider the partition of 'Palestine' into Jewish and Arab states in 1947 - accepted by the Jews and rejected by the Arabs who went to war over it - a tragedy. Therefore, if the date on which that 'tragedy' is observed - November 29 - falls on Black Friday, as is the case this year, it ought to have been pushed off to Saturday, Sunday or Monday.... Instead, the United Nations
advanced it to Monday. Maybe they were afraid the media would take the weekend off?
Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Ron Prosor slammed the U.N. for its conduct regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"Anti-Israel bias pervades the U.N. system all
year round," Prosor said. "In 2012, [the U.N. General Assembly] found
the time to pass 22 resolutions condemning Israel -- compared with only
four that single out other nations," Prosor said. "The worst human
rights abusers receive a fraction of the condemnation that Israel -- the
only democracy in the Middle East -- receives. These irresponsible
actions have irreversible consequences. The states that rubberstamp the
anti-Israel resolutions every year, have given the Palestinians a false
sense of reality and fed their culture of victimhood."
"All those who claim to advance peace must
remind the Palestinians that there are no shortcuts," Prosor said.
"Peace is not achieved by changing your nameplate at the U.N.; it isn't
achieved by unilateral actions or by passing a string of anti-Israel
resolutions; and it won't be achieved in Manhattan, Midtown east, but
rather in the Middle East. So long as the Palestinian leadership chooses
symbolism over pragmatism, it will be harder to achieve peace."
Prosor said that U.N. General Assembly resolutions condemning Israel "have no relationship to the facts on the ground."
"Just last week the U.N. adopted nine
resolutions condemning Israel," Prosor said. "One of these resolutions
condemned Israel's treatment of the Syrian people. Condemned Israel's
treatment of the Syrian people? It is inconceivable that while Israeli
hospitals are treating the Syrians who escaped [Syrian President Bashar]
Assad's massacre, the U.N. is denouncing Israel's treatment of the
Syrians."
"If that weren't enough, the GA will soon vote on another resolution
calling on Israel to hand over the Golan Heights and its residents to
Syria. It is nothing short of absurd for the U.N. to demand that even
more civilians be subject to Assad's brutality."
Aren't you glad that your country belongs to the UN and that your taxes support it?

United Nations bars Jews
The United Nations has
barred Jews from attending a Monday meeting of the United Nations Division of 'Palestinian' Rights reports Adam Kredo at the Washington Free Beacon (Hat Tip:
Memeorandum).
The Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust (IHRH), a U.N.-approved NGO group, claims the U.N. Division for Palestinian Rights
(UNDPR) has unjustly barred 18 pro-Israel Jews from attending a Monday
event marking the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People.”
U.N. security officials initially had granted the Touro Institute
credentials permitting 18 Birthright Israel alumni to attend the daylong series of meetings, which will be attended by the U.N.’s most high-level officials.
However, those credentials were quickly revoked at the behest of the
UNDPR, according to IHRH officials and e-mails obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
The incident has sparked a pointed back-and-forth between U.N.
officials and IHRH director Anne Bayefsky, who accuses the body of
allowing the UNDPR to effectively bar pro-Israel groups from attending
major events regarding the Palestinians.
Bayefsky is concerned that this behavior is part of a larger trend by
the Palestinians to control the narrative at the U.N. and prevent
dissenting voices from being heard.
Bayefsky has registered her concerns with multiple U.S. officials and
even U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power, who has yet to reply.
“This is the face of modern anti-Semitism by the U.N.,” Bayefsky told the Free Beacon
when asked about the days-long back-and-forth. “This is the how
discrimination works in the real-life operation of the U.N. Where is
Ambassador Samantha Power?”
Well I sure hope she's
fighting anti-Israel bias like she promised. Still waiting for someone in the Obama administration to speak up about this. Not holding my breath....

UN accredits NGO whose head is glad to be labeled anti-Semitic
The United Nations has accredited an NGO led by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Mohamad has said in the past that he is
glad to be labeled an anti-Semite.
At a session in New York last week, the UN
Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian
People officially granted accreditation to five civil society
organizations, among them the Perdana Global Peace Foundation, which was founded by Mahathir Mohamad.
Mohamad, who served as Malaysia’s prime
minister from 1981 until 2003, has repeatedly sparked controversy with
his anti-Western and anti-Semitic comments. In a 2003 speech, he said
that “the Jews rule the world by proxy” and get “others to fight and die
for them.” During the same speech,
he further stated, “They invented socialism, communism, human rights
and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong so they
may enjoy equal rights with others. With these, they have now gained
control of the most powerful countries.”

At Tuesday’s committee meeting
in New York, chairman Abdou Salam Diallo praised Mohamad for his
lifetime achievements and said the time had come to “thank him and
congratulate him on everything that he has done during his political
career for the Palestinian people.”

UN grants non-member state status to non-existent state of 'Palestine'
The United Nations on Thursday granted non-member state status to the non-existent state of 'Palestine.' The vote was
138-9 with 41 abstentions.
"We did not come here seeking to delegitimize a state
established years ago, and that is Israel; rather we came to affirm the
legitimacy of the state that must now achieve its independence, and that
is Palestine," he said.
"We did not come here to add further
complications to the peace process, which Israel’s policies have thrown
into the intensive care unit; rather we came to launch a final serious
attempt to achieve peace," he said. "Our endeavor is not aimed at
terminating what remains of the negotiations process, which has lost its
objective and credibility, but rather aimed at trying to breathe new
life into the negotiations and at setting a solid foundation for it
based on the terms of reference of the relevant international
resolutions in order for the negotiations to succeed."
Abbas said
that the Palestinians will accept no less than "the independence of the
State of Palestine, with east Jerusalem as its capital, on all the
Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, to live in peace and security
alongside the State of Israel, and a solution for the refugee issue on
the basis of resolution 194."
Well, it doesn't sound like there's going to be a 'Palestinian state' anytime soon. That unelected putz isn't going to dictate terms to us.
Abbas said nothing about
immediately resuming negotiations with Israel without preconditions,
though he did pledge to "act responsibly and positively in our next
steps, and we will to work to strengthen cooperation with the countries
and peoples of the world for the sake of a just peace."
Well, of course he didn't. Why should he when the duplicitous Europeans will vote with him anyway?
Among the few states that voted against the move, were the US, Canada, the Czech Republic, Micronesia, and the Solomon Islands.
The
resolution was presented to the General Assembly by the representative
of Sudan, who called this a victory for the "values of truth."
Staunch
European allies such as Germany and the Netherlands, who opposed
Palestinian admission into UNESCO last year as a state, were among those
who this time only abstained. And other friendly countries, such as
Italy, voted for the move.
The vote took place on the annual "Observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Senior
diplomatic officials voiced deep disappointment at the EU vote. Up
until a few days ago, when France declared that it would support the
move, senior officials held out hope that the EU might abstain as a
bloc, something that would have deprived the Palestinian Authority of a
moral victory.
One senior official said that the recent fighting
in Gaza tipped the European scales, with the Europeans worrying that if
PA Authority President Mahmoud Abbas would not gain some kind of
diplomatic victory, he would loses all stature and authority.
"Had the vote taken place before the Gaza operation, the EU would have voted differently," one official said.
Yeah. All we had to do was to let a few more Jews get murdered and the Euroweenies would vote differently....
The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement after Abbas' speech,
saying that by going to the UN the Palestinians have "violated
agreements with Israel, and Israel will act accordingly." Israel has
made clear in recent days that it would free Israel of its obligations
under the Oslo accord since Jerusalem views the move as a blatant
violation of the underlying principle of those agreements: that all
outstanding issues be resolved through negotiations, not through
unilateral actions.
Israel's immediate reaction is expected to be
the deduction from tax transfers it makes to the PA each moth of some
NIS 800 million the PA owes to the Israel Electric Corporation. Further
steps are expected if the Palestinians use this new status and try to
join other UN bodies or, as a result of their enhanced status, attempt
to haul Israel or Israelis before the International Court of Justice or
the International Criminal Court on war crime charges.
Well, I hope our government will at least do something. So far.
it doesn't look good on that front either.

Jewish group to be barred from UN vote on 'Palestine'
Breitbart.com reports that the
United Nations has
barred a Jewish group from being present at Thursday's General Assembly fiasco over 'Palestine.'
For kick-off day and the vote at the General Assembly, which is
supposed to be all about mutual respect and coexistence, “Palestine” has
teamed up with the “UN Division for Palestinian Rights” and UN
officials to pack the Assembly hall with Palestine supporters while
denying access to a prominent Jewish organization.
Staging thunderous applause with no discernible dissent for the
unsuspecting global media is evidently a top Palestinian priority.
The extraordinary scheme to deny access to the General Assembly to an
unpalatable, though formally accredited, UN NGO looked like this.
Yesterday, the UN Division for Palestinian Rights sent a letter to
the UN pass office to insist that they step in to deny invitees of the
UN-accredited Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, the
passes they had duly requested in writing. (A copy of the letter follows
this article, below.)
The passes had in fact already been printed and issued (see below),
but after receiving the Palestinian branch's demand, UN security
officials took the extraordinary step of insisting upon their return.
The denial affects 23 Jewish young adults who were part of an
educational program associated with the Taglit-Birthright Israel alumni
community.
The Jewish group had requested passes for November 29, 2012 to attend
separate events: the “UN Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People”
in the morning and, the General Assembly debate on “The Question of
Palestine” which commences at 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Solidarity Day is
an annual event that takes place on the anniversary of the General
Assembly vote of November 29, 1947 to partition Palestine into a Jewish
and an Arab state. Sixty-five years ago, the resolution was immediately
rejected by all Arab countries, but welcomed by the soon-to-be citizens
of Israel.
Solidarity Day is widely advertised, including on the UN website,
with the words “NGOs are invited to attend.” Furthermore, the
Taglit-Birthright Israel alumni completed individual registration forms
and submitted them to the host of Solidarity Day, the Division for
Palestinian Rights (which is part of the UN Department of Political
Affairs). And the Division sent out letters of acceptance. However, yesterday the same UN employee, one Mable Chan, reneged on the confirmations and abruptly sent emails to the suddenly-rejected Jewish and pro-Israel participants claiming the event was “filled.”

UN-sponsored meeting equates Israelis with Nazis
Nothing the United Nations does to Israel should surprise us anymore. And so, this should come as no shock. The United Nations has sponsored an event at which
Israel was equated to Nazis. Anne Bayefsky reports.
Over the past two days, the U.N. Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People has sponsored a two-day conference on the topic of Palestinian “political” prisoners held in Israeli prisons. The Committee was created by the U.N. General Assembly back in 1975 to implement the infamous Zionism-is-racism resolution. While the resolution was rescinded 16 years later, the committee marches on, boasting 49 U.N. states and observers as members and unending funds courtesy of the General Assembly [22% of which is paid for by the United States. CiJ].

The “keynote” address was delivered by Issa Qaraqe, the Minister for Prisoners’ Affairs of the Palestinian Authority. He blithely asserted that “there was a call at the highest level of the Israeli state for concentration camps to be set up for the rounding up and extermination of Palestinian people.” To ensure his message was widely available the U.N. posted on their website his speech claiming that “the Chief Rabbi of Israel” has called “for the establishment of extermination camps for Palestinians,” that Israelis advocate “prisoners should be gassed and exterminated,” and that “Israel is waging a war of ethnic cleansing against all humanity.” As to why there are any Palestinian prisoners, “the prisoners only crime is to struggle for freedom and independence,” said Qaraqe.
John Dugard, who served as U.N. “Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory” from 2001 to 2008, openly embraced the destruction of the Jewish state by force, using the one-state-solution lexicon of “Palestine/Israel.” He referred to “Palestinian resistance fighters” as “freedom fighters.” He railed against Israel for using the term “terrorists” — which he put in quotation marks — to describe “those who engage in resistance activities as combatants” or who “take up arms in pursuance of the right of self-determination.”

When the combination of U.N. experts and officials, diplomats and non-governmental participants, had finished analogizing Israelis to Nazis and Palestinians to Holocaust victims, claiming Jews have no historical ties to the land of Israel, and declaring open season on Israeli men, women, and children in the name of self-determination, Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian’s lead U.N. representative, was given a final word: “We thank the U.N. for organizing this very important conference in this very important location of the U.N. . . . the capital and center of human rights.”

How the United Nations supports the 'two-state solution'
Here are some examples of how the United Nations supports the 'two-state solution' from Tuesday's
'International Day of Solidarity with the 'Palestinian' people.' Notwithstanding alleged U.N. support for a two-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, at New York Headquarters Tuesday only the flag of the non-state of Palestine was flown alongside the U.N.’s own flag. The flag of the member state of Israel was barred.

This year Palestinian U.N. Ambassador Riyad Mansour tried to gather momentum for propelling the unilateral Palestinian statehood bid forward. A controversial statement of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, delivered by his Deputy, appeared intended to do just that.
The Secretary-General announced: “The Palestinian Authority is now institutionally ready to assume the responsibilities of statehood…” No matter that the Palestinian gambit violates UN resolutions, the Roadmap, bilateral agreements and repeated international and bilateral commitments to negotiations. Ban also said “Jerusalem must emerge from negotiations as the capital of two states” – despite remembering near the end of his statement that “the goal” was “a negotiated peace agreement on all final status issues including…Jerusalem.” And Ban called “settlement activity” “contrary to international law,” while explaining to “those in Gaza who fire rockets at Israel and smuggle weapons” that “these actions are unacceptable and contrary to Palestinian interests.”
Speaking on behalf of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Mansour clearly relished his annual moment at UN center stage. He accused Israel of the alleged offense of “Judaization,” in addition to “ethnic cleansing” and “apartheid.” Without batting an eye over the preposterous distortion, he claimed Israel’s membership in the UN was “conditional” upon “Israel’s commitment to the partition resolution” which he stressed gave it less area than it has now. He never mentioned that in 1947 Jews accepted the resolution and Arabs rejected it.
Solidarity Day also featured Yahya Mahmassani, speaking for the League of Arab States, who explicitly rejected Israel’s “insistence on recognition as a Jewish state.” Only one representative of “civil society” was invited – Americans United for Palestinian Human Rights. The reasons for his invitation quickly became clear as he called Israel an “apartheid state,” demanded “boycotts, divestment and sanctions,” claimed Israel was guilty of “pogroms,” and alleged that U.S. support for Israel resulted from our being “held hostage to domestic politics.” Ambassador Mansour clapped when the rant finally ended.
At the conclusion of the speeches, the Senegalese Chair of the UN “Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People” encouraged everyone to attend the screening by the UN of the film “La Terre Parle Arabe” or “The Land Speaks Arabic” – “in order to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.” Advertised in the UN daily journal,, the film draws parallels between the Nazis’ final solution and the alleged Zionist “brutal plans” for Palestinians.

The carefully orchestrated day also had other components. The U.N. event room prominently featured a set of six-foot high information panels; they described successive attempts at the Arab annihilation of Israel as random acts of spontaneous combustion.

Moreover, in the public entrance to the U.N. – a staple for all visiting American school children – an exhibit was launched teaching the same pathology of historical Palestinian ownership of modern Israel, the recognition of Jewish self-determination as a “catastrophe,” and innocent peace-loving Palestinians continuing to suffer at Israeli hands.
Entitled “Palestinian Vista: Uprooted from our homeland…” it purports to describe “the eternal love of the people for their land” and ties to “antiquity.” Paintings include one of a weeping Palestinian woman called “Tears reflecting our catastrophe,” and another of a Palestinian man clutching a tree accompanied by the words “If olive trees were able to recall their farmers, their oil would have turned into tears!”
The conclusion of the exercise culminates today with the adoption by the General Assembly of six more resolutions condemning Israel. This will bring the 2011 total for General Assembly condemnations of Israel to twenty as compared to seven criticizing human rights in all other 192 U.N. member states...combined.

'Like a political gangbang'
Describing their proceedings as being '
like a political gangbang,' the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Shimon Samuels has called for the dismantling of the UN committee that deals with the 'inalienable rights of the 'Palestinian people.''
In a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s director for international relations said that the experience of being the only Jewish NGO to attend a UN meeting in Brussels titled “The role of Europe in advancing Palestinian statehood and achieving peace between Israelis and Palestinians,” was akin to a “gangbang.”
The meeting’s title, Shimon Samuels wrote to Ban, “was nothing but a political euphemism to campaign for the 27 states of the European Union – and the European institutions themselves – to endorse the September UN General Assembly vote on a Palestinian unilateral declaration of independence.”
He added, “Behind that smokescreen, however, the gathering was yet another ‘gangbang’ against the State of Israel.”
According to Merriam-Webster.com, a “gangbang” is an often vulgar appellation for gang rape, or, according to the primary definition, “copulation by several persons in succession with the same passive partner.”
At the Brussels meeting, Samuels said, campaigns “resonant of a third intifada” were discussed, including calls for mass demonstrations beginning in July in Israel, Europe and North America under the title “United for Palestine Independence.”
Samuels also spoke of “veiled threats” made by delegates, quoting some as saying that “this mother of all conflicts can bring violence to all the nations of the world.”
The Brussels meeting was organized by the United Nations Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP).
Let's be realistic. Samuels has characterized the UN completely correctly. But this is an old story (the picture above is a previous installment). And so long as the State of Israel exists, the United Nations will never agree to abolish this committee.
