Inevitable: Sweden's Foreign Minister blames Israel for Paris attacks
Carl Bildt may not be the foreign minister of Sweden anymore, but his replacement is no better. Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom has told a Swedish television station that the Paris attacks happened because - you guessed it - Israel has refused to give a 'state' to the 'Palestinians.'
“Here again, you come back to situations like that in the Middle East
where not least the Palestinians see that there isn’t any future [for
them]. [The Palestinians] either have to accept a desperate situation or
resort to violence,” Margot Wallstrom said in an interview with Sweden’s SVT television station about the Nov. 13 killing of 132 people in a series of attacks in the French capital.
French President Francois Hollande said the attack was “an act of war” by the Islamic State terrorist group.
Queried by the Times of Israel over the statement by Wallstrom,whose
government last year was first in the European Union to recognize the
Palestinian Authority as a country that Sweden calls Palestine, a
spokesman for the Israeli foreign minister said her words reflected
“blindness.”
“It would seem that the Swedish foreign minister is afflicted with
total political blindness,” said the spokesman, Emmanuel Nahshon. “This
blindness may lead to tragedy.”
The Swedish Embassy in Israel later said in a tweet: “FM has not said
that Israeli Palestinian conflict is linked to tragic events in Paris.
Sweden condemns all acts of terrorism.”
Later on Monday, Israel’s Foreign Ministry summoned Sweden’s ambassador in Israel for a meeting with Director-General Dore Gold.

Swedish legislator: Prime Minister's recognition of 'Palestine' illegal
Benny Weinthal reports that a Swedish legislator claims that his Prime Minister's recognition of the imaginary state of 'Palestine' is illegal.
In a telephone interview with The Jerusalem Post on Monday, Swedish
deputy Annicka Engblom, from the center-right Moderaterna (Moderate)
party, said she filed a complaint with the parliament’s Committee on the
Constitution because the prime minister “violated the law.”
There
is a way to handle “issues which have a great impact Swedish foreign
policy,” she said. There are procedural steps that must be “taken to
recognize a state, especially in a conflict of this magnitude.”
According
to Engblom, [Swedish Prime Minister Stefan] Löfven should have sent the proposal to recognize a
Palestinian state to the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs, which
functions under the parliament and is chaired by the king.
Löfven bypassed the council on Friday, prompting outrage in the parliament.
Some
of the deputies “jumped in our seats as we heard the prime minister,
because his decision was stated as already made,” Engblom said.
The
Committee on the Constitution will convene a hearing in the spring on
the prime minister’s recognition of a Palestinians state. If he is found
to have violated Swedish law, the committee could reprimand him, and
“politically, this is very severe in politics,” Engblom said.
Now that he's been called on it, Löfven and his representatives are claiming that they did not recognize 'Palestine.'
Legislator Marie Granlund, from the prime minister’s Social Democratic
Party and deputy chairwoman of the parliament’s Committee on European
Union Affairs, did not immediately respond to Post telephone and email
queries. She told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper that Löfven’s
recognition of “Palestine” was not a decision but a declaration of
intent. When the time comes, the decision will “of course” be brought to
the Advisory Committee for Foreign Affairs for discussions, she said.
Unfortunately, that has all the effect of a New York Times 'correction' where the original headline is on page 1 and the 'correction' is on page 29.
In an earlier post, I reported that Time Magazine had recycled a 2009 blood libel from the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, which accused Israel of harvesting and selling 'Palestinians' organs. Having been called on their slander, Time has now corrected the video in question.
On Sunday, the magazine deleted the
allegations from a two-minute video on its website about the Israel
Defense Forces and added a correction, writing at the end, “Correction:
The original version of this video cited a contested allegation in a
2009 Swedish newspaper report as fact. The allegation has been removed
from the video.”
The video, titled “The IDF: A look inside
Israel’s powerful military,” said the “IDF is not without controversy,”
reporting that “in 2009 a Swedish report came out exposing some Israeli
troops of selling organs of Palestinians who died in their custody.”
The reference is to a completely made up tabloid style article in an obscure Swedish paper, that even the author admitted was not based on any evidence.

You might recall that five years ago, the Swedish daily Aftonbladet accused Israel of harvesting 'Palestinians' organs as part of questioning. For those who have forgotten, let's go to the videotape.
Now, Sweden is investigating the fate of Swedes on the Mavi Marmara terror ship, which sailed a bit more than four years ago. Oh yes, the anti-Semitic, Israel-obsessed Swedes have had an awakening.
Sweden launched a preliminary investigation on Thursday to determine
whether Israel acted illegally against its nationals who were involved
in 2010 and 2012 flotilla efforts to break the blockade of Gaza.
A
complaint alleging aggravated assault, illegal threats and theft in
international waters was filed in Sweden in 2013 by the Ship to Gaza
group on behalf of some 20 Swedish nationals who were either on ships
that joined the Mavi Marmara in the 2010 flotilla, or another ship that
set sail in 2012.
Israel arrested and deported participants in the flotillas.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said Israel had no comment on the matter.
In Sweden, they are so sensitive to the possibility of a Jew being nearby that the private plane of Israel's President, 90-year old Shimon Peres, was denied permission to fly through Swedish air on Sunday.
Swedish authorities refused on Sunday to allow the plane of Israeli
President Shimon Peres to cross into its airspace en route to Norway,
causing him to arrive late to his official reception.
When Stockholm refused the plane permission to cross, the pilots
were forced into a holding pattern over the Baltic Sea for 20 minutes
until they were rerouted via Denmark's airspace.
Peres's office blamed Stockholm, while the Israeli Foreign Ministry
pointed the finger at the President's Office and the private airline
company responsible for arranging the trip.
Israel's Haartez newspaper reported the ministry saying that
Peres's office had failed to follow the correct protocols, resulting in
its intervention.
The ministry said that it should have been arranging the flight all
along, but Peres's office claimed that Sweden had approved it. The
Swedish authorities said they had no knowledge of the flight.
However, Israel's Shin Bet intelligence services verified that all
permissions had been granted, but permission was later revoked for
unknown reasons.
Unknown reasons my you-know-what. Even Slimy Shimon is too Jewish for the Swedes.
Danish Bank boycotting Israeli bank, Swedish bank on its way to doing the same
A Danish bank is boycotting Bank HaPoalim because its mortgage branch lends money for construction in Judea and Samaria, and a Swedish bank has asked for 'clarifications' from Bank Leumi and Mizrachi Tefahot regarding the same issue.
Sweden’s Nordea Bank and Denmark’s Danske Bank have both taken steps
against Israeli banks involved in construction in the settlements,
Walla reported on Saturday.
Danske bank, the largest in Denmark, recently said on its website
that it was boycotting Bank Hapoalim for “legal and ethical” reasons.
And Nordea Bank, the largest in Scandinavia, has asked for
clarifications from Bank Leumi and Mizrahi- Tefahot Bank regarding their
activities beyond the Green Line.
The ministerial meeting to
discuss the boycotts was canceled last week, because of tension between
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Economy Minister Naftali
Bennett.
But the truth is that something much more significant happened in New York last week. This is from the first link.
Over the weekend, Bennett – citing a New York State legislative
initiative – said that it was “possible to boycott the boycotters.” His
remark came in a conversation with New York State Sen. Jeffrey Klein,
who sponsored a bill that would suspend funding to educational
institutions that fund groups that boycott Israel.
The
legislation passed the chamber by a 56-4 vote, and would ban state
funding to colleges that fund organizations boycotting “countries that
host higher education institutions chartered by the Board of Regents of
the University of the State of New York.”
The bill was in response to the American Studies Association’s recent boycott of Israeli universities.
Bennett
told Klein, who represents parts of Bronx and Westchester counties,
that this legislation was an “expression of moral clarity and moral
courage at a time when most of the world is silent in the face of
actions taken against Israel.”
A similar bill introduced in the
State Assembly last month by Speaker Sheldon Silver has 48 sponsors
among the chamber’s 150 members.
If it passes there, it will go to Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his signature before becoming a New York State law.
I think that we ought to make sure that those who boycott us do so completely.

At one point I glanced around our compartment: there were four other
people there, four adults witnessing a single mother and her
five-year-old child being attacked by a grown man. They did nothing. I
tried forcing them to meet my gaze; but they just turned away, put on
their headphones, stared at their screens, ignored what was happening in
front of them.
I did not summon the railway police. I did not scream back at the
man. I know better. I know that the only way to survive as a Jew in my
country is not to be seen as one. Not to be exposed but to shut up and

slaughter, kosher as well as hallal, is under threat in Europe. Well, in
Sweden kosher butchering was outlawed in 1937 and has been illegal ever
since. The threat is not a threat but a reality—for me as, on a much
graver scale, it had been for my grandparents, forced into hiding in a
Sweden silently collaborating with the Nazis throughout the world war.
The next threat on the horizon is a ban on even importing kosher
products, compelling me and many of my friends to smuggle kosher meat
from Israel on our return trips from that land.
By contrast, hallal slaughter is not banned in Sweden. My government,
when asked about the disparity, replies that the methods of slaughter
in Judaism are uniquely barbaric.

We want a strong Jewish community in the Diaspora. We want to live. We
are fighting every day against the pressure to turn us into plaques on
the wall of former synagogues or into exhibits in guilt-wallowing

My son no longer wears his kippah in public. Now he does what the men
at my shul have done for years. He carries it in his pocket, donning it
only when we are safely within the iron gates. Guarded and hidden from
the world.
The easiest solution is, unfortunately to leave. And if I were in her position, I would do just that. She may want to fight back, but what is that fight going to do to her 5-year old son?
Unbelievable: Swedish 'artist' uses ashes from Holocaust victims in 'painting' (UPDATED)
A Swedish 'artist' has used ashes from Holocaust victims at the Majdanek death camp (pictured) in a 'painting' (Hat Tip: HaDaR).
A Swedish artist has caused outrage among
Holocaust survivors by using ashes taken from a concentration camp
mausoleum to create his artwork, according to media reports.
The reports say Swedish artist Carl Michael
von Hausswolff combined the ashes with water to create gray lines in a
painting currently on display in Lund, Sweden. He reportedly collected
the ashes from the mausoleum at the Majdanek concentration camp on the
outskirts of Lublin, Poland, during a visit in 1989.
This revelation caused outrage and shock in
Sweden's Jewish community. Salomon Schulman, a Jewish community leader,
said he had lost relatives to the Nazi death machine, and called the
painting “revolting.”
"Who knows? Maybe some of those ashes belonged
to my relatives. No one knows where they were taken," Schulman wrote in
a letter to a popular Swedish newspaper. "I will never go to that
gallery [that is displaying Hausswolff's work]. I am appalled by this
artwork and his obsession with necrophilia."
Hausswolff argues that the ashes contain the "memories
and souls" of the people who were tortured and killed. In a statement to
the press, the artist invited the public to view his artwork and judge
for themselves.
It is difficult to think of a worse desecration of the bodies and memories of Holocaust victims. If he had taken the body of a dead Muslim terrorist and done this, there would be millions of Muslims in the streets protesting, and the West would be taking their side. But in Sweden, where new blood libels against Jews are issued every day, thisand other disgusting displays are considered 'art.'
This 'artist' deserves to die a slow and painful death starting now. The 'museum' that is displaying this 'art' should be ground into dust. And after those Jews who wish to leave have left, Sweden ought to be napalmed. There is simply no excuse for this, and there are no limits to the Swedes' anti-Semitism.
Martin Bryder, who owns a gallery in Lund, told Sverige Radio that he
“sees no moral problem or flaw with exhibiting” a painting which the
artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff made from ashes of Holocaust victims
from the Majdanek extermination camp.
According to a local
newspaper, Sydsvenskan, Von Hausswolff had collected the ashes more than
20 years ago. The exhibition is scheduled to open at the Martin Bryder
Gallery in Lund on Dec. 15, according to the radio station.
Salomon
Schulman, a teacher of Yiddish and member of Lund’s Jewish community,
wrote in the same local newspaper that he found the display “disgusting”
and called it “a desecration of Jewish bodies.”
He added:
“Nowhere was the Third Reich more popular than among the educated
academics. Today, the Holocaust and racism are still part of their salon
talks.”

The directorate of the museum at
Majdanek is outraged by the art. "We are deeply shocked and outraged by
the information that the painting allegedly was made with the ashes of
Majdanek victims. This action is an artistic provocation deserving only
to be condemned," said a statement published on Wednesday by the museum
staff.
"In addition, it is certain that the Swedish painter did not enter into possession of the ashes legally."
Andrzej
Fijolek of the Lublin police told JTA that the police have not opened
an investigation into how the artist came into possession of the ashes,
since no complaint has been filed.
