Obama targets Netanyahu
This is the 29,000th post I have done since starting this blog six years and nearly ten months ago.
The Obama administration is sharpening its knives to avenge its upcoming election loss. And one target they have in their sights is
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Stanley Greenberg helped push Israel’s earlier version of Occupy Wall Street. Now with elections coming up, Greenberg is back in Israel to try and topple Netanyahu one more time.
While Netanyahu’s reelection prospects are looking far better than
Obama’s, a major factor in Obama’s Middle East policy is getting rid of
Netanyahu.

Netanyahu won’t be replaced by the idiotic Yachimovich, but the goal is
to keep pushing and undermining him. Rather than going after
Ahmadinejad, the Democratic Party establishment is doing everything
possible to break Netanyahu.
Stanley Greenberg is a political consultant in the service of Bill Clinton, and he helped Ehud Barack topple Netanyahu in 1999. While that's not likely to happen this time, it's possible that Greenberg could affect the balance between Left and Right, making it harder for Netanyahu to form a coalition.
Someone emailed me today and said that the Tea Party believes that Netanyahu wants Obama to win the US election. That's the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a long time. If the Tea Party actually believes that, they are nowhere near as smart as I gave them credit for being.

According to an investigative report by Maariv's Kalman Libeskind, the protests were engineered by a group of media strategists who are directed by prominent Democratic strategist Stanley Greenberg, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, John Kerry and others. Greenberg directed the strategists to create a protest that was not led by one specific group, in order to create social ferment. An unnamed left-wing leader would eventually step into this ferment and take the reins, Greenberg predicted.
The Israeli strategists reportedly include Boaz Gaon, Moshe Gaon and Eldad Yaniv, who worked in Ehud Barak's successful race for Prime Minister in 1999, also in cooperation with Greenberg.
Ehud Barak's 'successful race for Prime Minister in 1999' just happened to be against Binyamin Netanyahu. And Greenberg was sent to Israel to run that race by one William Jefferson Clinton. Does anyone really believe that the Obama administration had nothing to do with this?
The protesters are mostly secular people and the participation of nationalists in the summer-long protest wave has gradually lessened, as details emerge of left-wing involvement in their organization. In Jerusalem, Channel 2 reporter Dafna Liel said most of the protesters are secular people. Liel's mother, Rachel Liel, is Director of the New Israel Fund, which has assisted the protests. [That would make her the daughter of Alon Liel, the local shill for Bashar al-Assad and a good buddy of Richard Richard Goldstone - don't you love how the branja pass down their titles from generation to generation? CiJ]
Israel's central television and internet news outlets provided live superlative-studded coverage of the protests, as they have throughout the summer. Central Channel 2 political commentator Amnon Abramovich said that the protest is against policies that favor hareidis and settlers.
The protests have been held all summer long on Saturday nights and are part demonstrations, part free live concerts. Performers in Tel Aviv Saturday night were to include popular bands like HaYehudim, Hadag Nachash and singer Eyal Golan.
Tent cities that have been put up in Tel Aviv and other cities are likely to be folded up soon as summer vacation ends and cooler weather approaches.
The tent cities will fold up, but the 'protesters' may still come out when the weather is good. And now we know that they weren't spontaneous anyway - they didn't just happen one day because

Time for Israel's leadership to tell the truth
In an earlier post, I discussed a disturbing poll that shows that the vast majority of 'Palestinians' regard a 'Palestinian state' as a
phase on the way to destroying the Jewish one. Evelyn Gordon points out what
Israel's leadership should be learning from that poll.
But perhaps even scarier than the poll itself was the delusional response of Israeli leaders when briefed on it by pollster Stanley Greenberg and Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi of The Israel Project, which commissioned it. According to the Jerusalem Post, Israeli leaders said “they were encouraged by Palestinian support for talks.” Indeed, 65 percent of respondents preferred talks to violence as a tactic for achieving their goals. But what good is that if there’s nothing to talk about – which there isn’t as long as Palestinians deny the Jewish state’s right to exist?

The only way to make progress is for Israel to keep explaining the conflict’s real cause until the world finally internalizes it and begins addressing it. For Palestinians will never accept a Jewish state unless convinced it’s necessary, and the only way to so convince them is for the world to make clear that it won’t support Palestinian statehood absent such acceptance.
For that reason, Netanyahu was also right when he told Bulgaria’s foreign minister a few days later peace would come faster if Europe stopped treating Palestinians “like a spoiled child” and instead began to “tell the Palestinians the truth” about the concessions they will need to make for any agreement – like recognizing Israel as a Jewish state and dropping their demand to resettle Palestinian refugees in Israel – instead of only spelling out the concessions it wants Israel to make. For again, as long as the international community refuses to say otherwise, Palestinian will keep thinking they can secure Israel’s retreat from the territories without having to give up their quest for its destruction.
The problem is even Netanyahu himself rarely follows his own advice. Instead, he and other Israelis leaders endlessly declare the Palestinians really want peace, and thereby allow the world to maintain this fiction. Indeed, had Israel not actively assisted the Palestinians in spreading this lie, it never would have “become so deeply entrenched.”
Indeed.

The 'Palestinians' phased plan
Something tells me that we won't hear a whole lot about
this survey outside of Israel. A survey of 'Palestinians' shows that six out of ten reject the 'two-state solution.' And 73% of 'Palestinians' believe in the infamous Hadith that calls on Muslims to kill all Jews hiding behind stones and trees.
Only one in three Palestinians (34 percent) accepts two states for two peoples as the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to an intensive, face-to-face survey in Arabic of 1,010 Palestinian adults in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip completed this week by American pollster Stanley Greenberg.
The poll, which has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, was conducted in partnership with the Beit Sahour-based Palestinian Center for Public Opinion and sponsored by the Israel Project, an international nonprofit organization that provides journalists and leaders with information about the Middle East.
The Israel Project is trying to reach out to the Arab world to promote “people-to-people peace.” The poll appears to indicate that the organization has a difficult task ahead.
Respondents were asked about US President Barack Obama’s statement that “there should be two states: Palestine as the homeland for the Palestinian people and Israel as the homeland for the Jewish people.”
Just 34% said they accepted that concept, while 61% rejected it.
Sixty-six percent said the Palestinians’ real goal should be to start with a two-state solution but then move to it all being one Palestinian state.
Asked about the fate of Jerusalem, 92% said it should be the capital of Palestine, 1% said the capital of Israel, 3% the capital of both, and 4% a neutral international city.
Seventy-two percent backed denying the thousands of years of Jewish history in Jerusalem, 62% supported kidnapping IDF soldiers and holding them hostage, and 53% were in favor or teaching songs about hating Jews in Palestinian schools.
When given a quote from the Hamas Charter about the need for battalions from the Arab and Islamic world to defeat the Jews, 80% agreed. Seventy-three percent agreed with a quote from the charter (and a hadith, or tradition ascribed to the prophet Muhammad) about the need to kill Jews hiding behind stones and trees.
There is some 'good news' in the survey as well, and the rest of the JPost article I just linked tries to put it in a more positive light.
Read the whole thing. But the bottom line is that for the 'Palestinians,' the only end to this conflict is what it has been for the last century: Throwing the Jews into the sea (God forbid). And this poll - a face-to-face poll by a respected American pollster working with a 'Palestinian' partner cannot be attacked as a 'push poll' or as otherwise biased. It's time to face reality.
