As Yom Kippur fades into the sunset in the last few Jewish communities around the world, here's Shalhevet with Chamol al Maasecha (Have mercy on Your creations) from the Rosh HaShanna and Yom Kippur prayers. I hope all of you had an easy and meaningful fast.
After a child's Torah party in the morning (9-12), a meeting in the afternoon and an out-of-town wedding this evening, I am totally wasted... and have another wedding tomorrow night after oversleeping this morning....
Here's Shalheveth with Hu Yiftach Liebeinu b'Toratho (He Will Open our hearts with His Torah), a song that was prominently featured at this morning's party for YYA (son # 5, child #8) and his friends.
I have no idea whose wedding this is or where it is. And obviously they change songs a couple of times in this video. The last one is a song that - in Israel at least - is usually played every time an important rabbi arrives at the wedding (that can happen multiple times during the course of the wedding).
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004.
