Red Cross: Okay for 'Palestinian' Red Crescent to use Red Cross funds to honor terrorists
As some of you may recall, the International Red Cross only recently admitted Israel's Magen David Adom after forcing it to change its symbol to a '
neutral' one. But when it comes to the 'Palestinians,' as is so often the case, the rules are different. While the International Red Cross claims not to have participated in a ceremony glorifying terrorists, they are happy to let the 'Palestinian' Red Crescent Society
use Red Cross funds for the ceremony.
Earlier this month, Palestinian Media Watch
reported on a ceremony in the Palestinian Authority celebrating the
International Red Cross' 150th anniversary. The official PA daily
reported that the International Red Cross (ICRC) together with the
Palestinian Red Crescent planted 150 trees bearing the names of "veteran prisoners," meaning security prisoners who have been imprisoned for many years.
Following PMW's report, the International Red Cross, in a letter to
Weekly Press Pakistan - Canada, denied its involvement in the ceremony:
"Please note that ICRC was not present during the planting of the trees ceremony reported by your website."
However, not only did ICRC not condemn the Palestinian Red Crescent's
glorification of terrorists in the ceremony, it chose to justify the use
of ICRC money by the Palestinian Red Crescent. The ICRC issued a
statement defending their right to use donor money any way they choose,
even though the issue being raised was the use of ICRC money for terror
glorification:
"Over the decades, the ICRC has provided support, including financially,
both to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and to [Israeli] Magen
David Adom for their humanitarian programs. It remains the prerogative of the National Society to define its own priorities and activities and to allocate funds accordingly."
The official PA daily wrote that "the International Red Cross and the
Palestinian Red Crescent... planted 150 fruit trees that carry the names
of the veteran prisoners jailed in the occupation prisons... [during] a
ceremony called 'My Honor is My Freedom'... to mark the 150th
anniversary of their founding."
The PA uses the term "veteran prisoners" to refer to those who have been
in jail the longest, and in most cases these prisoners are serving life
sentences for murder or multiple murders.
Read the whole thing. Icing on the cake: The European Union's Red Cross and Red Crescent representative participated in the ceremony.

'Palestinian' Red Crescent employees, Olympic athlete, arrested for shooting attack on IDF soldiers

I'm just shocked to hear that several
employees of the 'Palestinian' Red Crescent Society have been arrested in connection with a shooting attack on IDF soldiers near Ramallah in January. And a member of the 'Palestinian' Olympic soccer team (undoubtedly being financed by your taxes) has been arrested along with them.
It was disclosed, Monday, that a number of employees of the Red Crescent in Ramallah were arrested, in recent weeks, as a result of a joint operation by the IDF and the Shabak Israel Security Agency, for the January 20th shooting attack on an Israel Defense Forces unit in the Amari section of Ramallah. No injuries were reported in the attack but an IDF vehicle was damaged.
One of those arrested was a member of the Palestinian Authority's Olympic soccer team. They received Kalashnikov rifles for the attack from an officer in the Palestinian Authority's general intelligence service who is in charge of the Red Crescent's Guards.
And you still wonder why the IDF searches 'Palestinian' Red Crescent ambulances at checkpoints?
Hey guys - having Red Crescent employees carry out shooting attacks (even if they're shooting at soldiers) is a war crime, and probably qualifies as terrorism as well.
UPDATE 2:42 PMHere's
more detail on this story.
Omar Abu Rwayyis, who plays in the position of goalkeeper for the Palestinian Olympic soccer team, was arrested by Israeli authorities Monday over his alleged involvement in shooting on IDF soldiers.
Rwayyis was arrested in a joint IDF-Shin Bet operation in the West Bank, following an incident in which Palestinian rioters fired on IDF troops in the Al-Amari refugee camp, near Ramallah in January.
No injuries or damage were reported in the incident.
Security forces said that the event, which took place on January 20, saw several Red Crescent employees, including Rwayyis, fire on Israeli soldiers using AK-47 assault rifles supplied by an officer of the Palestinian security forces, who served as their supervisor.
The ensuing investigation derived that the goalie carried out the attack with another accomplice. Twelve other suspects were detained in the case as well.
In America, being a sports hero is a path to business and political success. In Israel, being an army officer is a path to business and political success. In 'Palestine,' being a terrorist is the only path to business and political success.
What could go wrong?

Why Israel searches everything

Every time Israel searches - or even worse attacks - seemingly innocent things like ambulances, the media comes after us for all kinds of terrible things (chief among them, violating the oft-violated Geneva Convention). Well, the Wikileaks cables show that there's someone besides us who recognize what the Arabs and Muslims do with medical equipment.
This is a cable from Dubai with all the names removed. Apparently it involved a meeting with someone with intimate knowledge of how Iran uses Red Crescent equipment. And surprise, they
violate the Geneva Convention.

The next time you see a 'civilian' truck blown up during a war, you will know why.
