British government funding BDS'ers

Where are the worst anti-Semites in the world?

What country kept Jews from escaping the Holocaust by slamming shut the doors of the Jewish home with which they were entrusted?

What country tried to destroy the Jewish state upon its birth?

What country is funding the anti-Israel 'boycott activists'?

The answer to all those questions: Britain.
The news, which has surfaced following an investigation by the Jerusalem Post, shows that the British Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is providing funding to an organisation which promotes anti-Israel speakers and encourages the boycott  movement around the world.
The Post reports that a British-funded institute in Jerusalem has come under fire for hosting an event supporting the BDS campaign against Israel, alongside proof that a United Nations (UN) staff member circulated its details in an official email to co-workers.
In March, the Kenyon Institute, also known as the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem, hosted an event titled “The emergence of the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement” – a campaign led by radical anti-Israel activists  – at its East Jerusalem headquarters.
The institute is funded by the British Academy, an organisation which boasts of its support from the British government department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The department provides 91 percent of the Academy's income - a total of £27m ($41m) in 2011/12.
The Post report highlights the event at which Suzanne Morrison of the London School of Economics was due to discuss the BDS movement. Morrison has said that an academic boycott of Israel is a “top priority in the BDS movement.”
Morrison's supervisor at the LSE is none other than Dr. John Chalcraft, treasurer of the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine which recently successfully lobbied Professor Stephen Hawkings to boycott the State of Israel.
The Commentator can also exclusively reveal that in a recent e-mail exchange with BRICUP staff, a response came via e-mail not from a BRICUP e-mail account, but from an official London School of Economics e-mail address belonging to Mr. Mike Cushman, listed as Research Fellow and Information and Communication Manager, from an e-mail account named 'supporters@lse.ac.uk'.

JINO Rosen out at LSE

JINO (Jew in name only) Nir Rosen has resigned an unpaid fellowship at the London School of Economics just days after arriving there. Maybe he thought he was worth more than they were paying him?
But today an LSE spokesman said: "Nir Rosen today resigned his temporary visiting fellowship at LSE - which was an unpaid position. LSE had already made clear it condemned the offensive comments he made about Lara Logan and others."

New York-born Mr Rosen, who spent two years reporting from Iraq and now lives in Lebanon, has called for the dismantling of Israel. In a 2008 Guardian column he wrote: "You cannot be prime minister of Israel without enough Arab blood on your hands."

In an earlier article for Counterpunch in 2002, he wrote: "I find myself in the unique and painful position of calling for international sanctions against Israel and wondering if a punitive bombing of Tel Aviv, the city I love, until it complies with international law, might be a good (albeit quixotic) idea." He has also repeatedly claimed Hizbollah are not terrorists.

But it was comments in February about CBS reporter Lara Logan, after she was sexually assaulted in Egypt, which led to his resignation from NYU. He compared her to CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, who was attacked covering the protests. Mr Rosen wrote: "Lara Logan had to outdo Anderson." Later he tweeted: "Jesus Christ, at a moment when she is going to become a martyr and glorified we should at least remember her role as a major war monger."
Maybe An-Najah University in Nablus (Shchem) will hire this scumbag. They're perfect for each other.

LSE worries about 'donations from American alumni'

Tongue firmly implanted in cheek, Melanie Phillips takes on the London School of Economics, which is now in a panic over its ties to Libya.
The university has already been urged by its own dons to give up the £300,000 it received from a foundation headed by the son of Colonel Gaddafi. Howard Davies, the LSE director, is said to have told academics this week that he was ashamed of the institution’s links to the dictatorship.

Questions have been emerging about the LSE’s wider reliance on finance from authoritarian regimes. One of its lecture halls has been named in honour of a sheikh reputed to have promoted anti-Semitic material.

An academic source said the university has become nervous about being seen as anti-Israel because of a threat to donations from American alumni.
Gee, which 'American alumni' might those be?

London School of Economics stops accepting stolen money

A year ago, we discovered that the London School of Economics was 'partnered' with the Islamic University of Gaza. During Operation Cast Lead, Israel discovered that the 'Islamic University' was running a rocket production facility for Hamas right on its campus.

Now it turns out that LSE accepted a donation of 1.5 million British pounds from the Gadhafi International Charity and Development Foundation, which is chaired by the Libyan leader's son, Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, an LSE graduate. Now, after the 'distressing' violence in Libya, LSE has announced that it is 'suspending' the program.

Well, why were they taking the money in the first place? Where the hell did they think it came from? Given Libya's socialist economy and with Seif al-Islam Gadhafi having no obvious source of independent wealth (aside from kickbacks and influence peddling, if not outright theft from the public treasury), the money had to be tainted. Did LSE think Libya wasn't a repressive regime before this happened? What were they thinking?

By the way, just last month a motion to boycott Israel was defeated at the London School of Economics. You can watch highlights of the debate here.
