Strip-searched on the Temple Mount

Three Jews were arrested and strip-searched on the Temple Mount on Tuesday, two for carrying Israeli flags onto the site, and one who was filming the events. A fourth Jew was thrown off the Mount for having Tefillin on under his shirt.

Let's go to the videotape.

Here's an explanation:

The incident began as dozens of Jews who went to the Temple Mount Tuesday morning were ordered by an officer to enter his office one by one, and were there ordered to undress to make sure they weren't "smuggling" Jewish symbols onto the site. Those banned symbols included dried fruit on Tu B'ishvat.

Moti Gabai, the officer tasked with the gate to the Temple Mount, told Jewish visitors he was instructed to prevent all Jewish or Israeli symbols from being brought onto the site. Temple Mount Deputy Commander Daniel Sarga oversaw the scandalous strip searches personally, according to reports.

Two of the Jews were found to be in possession of a banned object - the flag of Israel.
The two young Jews were immediately arrested by police. A third who was filming the events at the entrance and on the Temple Mount was reportedly hit by an officer, and arrested as well as he continued to film.

A fourth Jew that was wearing tefillin (phylacteries) under his shirtsleeves was expelled from the site by officers, and forbidden from entering.

The Temple Mount is in our hands? Really?

Israeli flags anger German anti-Semites

The picture above was taken during the Champions League soccer final (the Europeans call it 'football' but I'm in the US now) at Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday, between Germany's Bayern-Munchen and England's Chelsea.

If you go here, you'll see the reaction on Twitter to the presence of Israeli flags in a German stadium (Hat Tip: David H). It's not pretty. Of course, most of the tweeters have Muslim-sounding names, but I guess now that Germany's being overrun by Muslims, they qualify as German. Make sure you click the second page, because the comments there are a lot better.

And probably the best comment by the author:

"Oh my Allah! Why are they waving Israeli flags and not burning them?! I always burn the Israeli flags I buy! It's such a nice program to do with the family... My 5 wives and 17 kids love it!"

Controversial? Israeli flag waved at Mali soccer game

At a soccer game between the Egyptian Ahly club and the Malian national soccer team, a 'controversy' breaks out when a fan waves an Israeli flag.

Egypt rewarded flag remover

Ten days ago, there was a massive assault on the Israeli embassy in Cairo. Why that happened may have something to do with the response of Egyptian authorities a few days earlier when an Egyptian removed the Israeli flag from the embassy. The Egyptian government treated him like a hero.

A few days before the mob stormed the embassy, the Egyptian authorities honored a young man for climbing more than 20 floors to remove the Israeli flag from the offices of the Israeli embassy.

According to a report in Egypt's Al Masry Al Youm newspaper, Sharqiya Governor Azazy Ali Azazy, honored the man who climbed the building that houses the embassy and tore down the Israeli flag.

Ahmed al-Shahat, 23, affectionately nicknamed "Flagman," was awarded a flat and a job for his "courageous" deed.

"I wish I were in his place to enjoy that honor," the governor said, referring to the young man.

The Egyptian Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has since sought to distance itself from the decision to honor al-Shahat by claiming that the governor had acted on his own initiative.

By honoring al-Shahat, who is being hailed as a hero in his country, the Egyptian authorities paved the way for the mob attack on the embassy, which, by miracle, did not end in the lynching of the Israelis inside the embassy offices.

The Egyptian authorities are being hypocritical when they say that they plan to prosecute those responsible for the assault on the embassy.

By rewarding the young man with a flat and a job, the government in Cairo sent a message that not only does it condone the attack, but actually regards it as a heroic act that deserves a precious award.

There is no doubt that the thousands of young Egyptian protesters who attacked the embassy were also expecting to be praised and honored by their government, especially if one takes into account the severe housing shortage and high rate of unemployment in Egypt.

The protesters who stormed the embassy were not only inspired by the "heroic" act of al-Shahat, however -- they were also influenced by the continued incitement against Israel in the Egyptian media.

Of course, the Netanyahu government and other Israelis, undoubtedly at the Obama administration's behest, are trying to turn President Obama into a hero for getting the Egyptian government to confront the rioters (Hat Tip: Debbie R). But the truth is that if the Egyptian government would not even provide the Israeli embassy with that small amount of protection until pressured to do so by Obama, the peace treaty is gone, and Israel should withdraw its ambassador and prepare for war on its southern front. Unfortunately, the day when those things happen does not seem far off.

Israeli flag flying over Cairo embassy again

Israel's flag is flying again over its embassy in Cairo.

More than a week after it was taken down during a demonstration over the deaths of the Egyptian soldiers at the Israel-Egypt border, the Israeli embassy in Cairo is once again flying the Israeli flag.

Nonetheless, the Egyptian flag which was placed there instead of the Israeli flag last week, remains in place.

According to a Monday report in Egypt's al-Youm al-Saba daily newspaper, Egyptian citizens who noticed that the Israeli flag was "once again being waved on Egyptian land" were less than thrilled by the sight. According to the report the eyewitnesses said: "This time we need the Green Lantern or Spiderman to get the flag down."

Israelis urged to fly the flag

Israelis have been urged to fly the flag on Sunday in response to the 'Palestinian' observance of 'Naqba Day' (Hat Tip: David H).

Intefatigable Shomron Mayor Gershon Mesika is calling on Israeli citizens to fly Israeli flags on their vehicles and homes, as well as post pictures of the Israeli on their Facebook accounts this coming Sunday.

Mesika’s letter reads as follows:

This Sunday, we will all raise with pride the flag of Israel.

'Nakba Day' is translated into Hebrew as Yom Hashoah [Holocaust Remembrance Day –ed.]. This is how the ‘Palestinian’ Authority leadership has chosen to refer to the establishment of Israel. Indeed, it is not surprising, since at the head of that terror authority is Holocaust denier Abu-Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas –ed.].

This year the Authority is trying to intensify the events of that day, as a propaganda step on the way to their one-side declaration of a state in September.

The hysteria which the PA and its PR people from the far left are trying to inflict on the citizens of Israel is nothing but a balloon filled with hot air.

They too know very well that according to international law, only whoever is controlling an area can establish a state, and to our delight Israel is the one controlling it. Those PR people who are trying to frighten the public in Israel remember well that the UN already voted in 1988 in favour of the establishment of a ‘Palestinian’ state (by a majority of 104 against 2) and Arafat even officially declared it. All this had no meaning since Israel controls most of Judea and Samaria, the cradle of the Jewish people, and protects the whole country from there. (editor's note: the high ground of Judea and Samaria overlooks the entire coast of Israel, its most populated urban area, which, if in other hands, would make this part of Israel vulnerable to primitive rockets).

On Sunday, we will all raise the Israeli flag everywhere: on cars, on our homes and on our Facebook accounts.

Hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens in cities across the country will raise the flag along with us.

We will raise the flag proudly, and say to the world: Am Yisrael Chai [the people of Israel live].”

Hmmm.
