Hezbullah on war alert

As-Siyasa reports that
Hezbullah is on a war alert out of supposed fear that Israel will start a war in the next few weeks.
Lebanese terror group Hizbullah has increased the preparedness of its units, including missile launchers, according to a Tuesday report by the Kuwaiti newspaper As-Siyasa, which says the Shi'ite group fears Israel will start a war in the upcoming days or weeks.
It was also reported that Hizbullah declared a general callup, cancelling leaves and instructing senior members to hide, according to its accepted war practice.
Let's put it this way: If Israel starts a war in the next few weeks, it's not likely to be with Hezbullah, but Hezbullah is likely to get involved.
And note that Hezbullah's war preparations include all the senior commanders going into hiding. I only know one other 'army' in the world that behaves that way. Yes, of course, it's Hamas.

Hezbullah's message to UNIFIL
Sorry for the light posting over the last 18 hours or so. It is likely to continue for another few hours.
In an earlier post, I reported on a roadside bomb directed against UNIFIL's French troops on Tuesday night in which three (it's now been raised to six) troops were wounded. The IDF believes that the bombing was meant to send a
message to UNIFIL.
The bombing of a UNIFIL convoy in southern Lebanon on Tuesday night was likely aimed at sending a message to the peacekeeping force to scale back its operations against Hezbollah, Israeli defense officials said on Wednesday.
UNIFIL’s mandate is up for renewal in mid-August and the attack is understood in Israel as a sign of Hezbollah concern that the force is looking to bolster its rules of engagement.

Israel has been lobbying diplomats from countries which contribute to UNIFIL – particularly Spain, Italy and France – to get the UN to issue new rules of engagement for the peacekeeping force that will enable it to search Lebanese villages without prior coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
According to UNIFIL’s current rules of engagement, the force is not allowed to enter southern Lebanese villages to search for Hezbollah arms caches unless it coordinates the operation with the LAF. If approved by the UN, the new rules would still need to be approved by the Lebanese government.
Funny - some of us flagged that as an issue five years ago (no time to go look up the link now). What could go wrong?

Hamas and Hezbullah on US border with Mexico?

A tunnel running 250 feet beneath the U.S.-Mexican border has been discovered fully kitted out with electricity, water pumps and ventilation.
Authorities in Arizona said although they've found dozens of tunnels in Nogales, a city in Santa Cruz County since the 1990s, this one is by far the most sophisticated.
Chief border patrol agent Randy Hill said those who were building it had chiselled through solid rock and installed lighting and other equipment.
Border patrol found an entrance to the tunnel on May 2 in an abandoned building. An investigation has begun with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Mexican government.
The tunnel lies 15 feet beneath the ground and is three feet wide and five feet high.
Chief Hill said: 'This tunnel is more sophisticated than other recently discovered tunnels. They chiselled through solid rock and then installed electricity, lighting, water pumps, and ventilation.
There are two groups with expertise in designing tunnels like that:
Hamas and
Hezbullah.We already know that
Hezbullah has operatives in Mexico and Hamas is also rumored to be involved in drug smuggling there. What could go wrong?

WaPo publishes map of Hezbullah bunkers in Lebanon
Israeli intelligence has quietly mapped out what military officials describe as roughly 1,000 underground bunkers and hidden weapons storage facilities and monitoring sites built by Hezbollah in south Lebanon. The Washington Post
publishes the maps.
There were two maps published by the Post, which I assume got them directly from Israeli intelligence. Israel wanted these maps published. The one above is a message to Hezbullah. We know where you are. We know exactly what to hit and how hard we need to hit it. If you start with us, we have enough targets prepared that we will wipe you out and destroy your country. No one here will apologize for destroying Lebanese infrastructure that's been taken over by Hezbullah. No one.
And that brings us to the second map, a map of the village of el-Khiam. Does the name ring a bell?
It should.
The key here is the legend at bottom right and if you can't see it clearly, by all means click through and look at the map on the Post's site. This map is directed at the West and what it shows is how Hezbullah has woven its bunkers in among hospitals, schools and mosques in the hope of encouraging civilian casualties. Israel is showing the world that when Hezbullah makes war against us - God forbid - there will be civilian casualties because Hezbullah is going out of its way to create them. Will it make a difference that Israel is warning the world in advance? I doubt it. But if I were living in Lebanon and saw this map, I would try to move elsewhere as soon as possible. Of course, that may not be possible. It's no secret that Hezbullah prevents civilians from leaving southern Lebanon to move elsewhere precisely so that they will remain human shields.
