Orthodox Jew held captive in Bolivia arrives in the US
Jacob Ostreicher, an Orthodox Jewish businessman who has been
held captive in Bolivia since 2011, has arrived in the United States this evening, apparently after
escaping.
A source familiar with efforts to have the businessman released
confirmed that an “operation” took place Sunday night that resulted in
Ostreicher’s return to his family.
In an email circulated to friends and supporters, his nephew Moshe confirmed the news as well.
“With happiness, we are informing the community of Israel that our
dear uncle… has already left the iron curtain in Bolivia, and is now,
with G-d’s great mercy, here in America,” Moshe wrote.
Jewish leaders, some of which have actively campaigned for his release reacted to the news Monday afternoon.
“With thanks to G-d, I am *thrilled* that Jacob Ostreicher is finally
home in America!,” tweeted Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind.
Councilman David Greenfield said “American Jews are celebrating the
news that Jacob Ostreicher, who was falsely imprisoned since June 2011
in Bolivia, is now back home in NY.”
I hope that Hussein Obama won't try to please his good buddy Evo Morales by trying to give Ostreicher back. Stick close to home Mr. Ostreicher. And if you want to do business in Israel, please be in touch....

Orthodox American Jew held without charges in Evo Morales' Bolivia

Jacob Ostreicher, an Orthodox American Jew, has been
held without charges since 2011 in Evo Morales' Bolivia. As you might recall, Morales is a buddy of
Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, and of American dictator
Barack Hussein Obama. This is from the first link.
Ostreicher was arrested by Bolivian authorities in 2011 and is accused of laundering drug money after he started a rice cultivation business in the country. Ostreicher told ABC News that even though he cooperated with authorities, he was still placed under arrest. Bolivian authorities are questioning the money that was collectively raised from the venture, and for all intents and purposes have assumed that Ostreicher is conducting an illicit business.
...
Ostreicher’s wife Miriam Ungar has been interviewed on national television pleading for her husband’s release, but her requests fell on deaf ears until Ungar spoke with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), wife of Congressman Connie Mack (R-FL), who indicated that she was “eager to help.” Bono Mack told Ungar that she would put her in touch with her husband’s office, and she followed through on her promise.
Congressman Connie Mack is the Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, and he’s launched an inquiry into the matter. Mack’s office has attempted to reach out to Bolivian authorities and is fully engaged on the case. Republican Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey is also getting involved in the case, but to date no member of the Democratic caucus in Congress has spoken out about the issue.
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has also been noticeably quiet about the matter, and given that many within Jewish community in South Florida are very much aware of the situation, they are beginning to question the Wasserman Schultz’ silence.

Bolivia expels Vahidi

Hosting Jew-hating murderers is fine in Evo Morales' Bolivia, but if they tick off your neighbors is a different story. And so, Bolivia has expelled Iran's Defense Minister
Ahmad Vahidi (pictured), who has been indicted by an international tribunal for being a part of the group that carried out two bombings at the Israeli embassy and at the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires in the 1990's. Bolivia claims that it didn't know what Vahidi has been accused of doing (bull dung) and Argentina, which has recently recognized a 'Palestinian' reichlet gets to mollify its Jewish community, which, after all, still votes in elections.
In the letter Bolivia apologized for the invitation, which it called "a grave incident", and assured Argentina that Vahidi would not be in the country for long.
"As a result of this lamentable situation ... the government of Bolivia has taken the corresponding provisions to see to it that Ahmad Vahidi immediately leaves Bolivian territory," said the letter, which was released in Buenos Aires by the Argentine government.
Sources in Bolivia's government, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that Vahidi left Bolivia late on Tuesday.
Vahidi is among the senior Iranian officials accused by Argentine prosecutors of being behind the attack that leveled the Argentine Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA) building in Buenos Aires. Iran denies any links to the bombing.
"Unfortunately (the Bolivian Defense Ministry) did not know about the background of the case," the letter said. Nor did the ministry coordinate the invitation with the rest of Bolivia's government, it said.
Vahidi enjoys diplomatic immunity, which complicates efforts to bring him to trial although in 2007 Interpol notified law enforcement bodies in other countries of an Argentine arrest warrant against him.
Bolivia's leftist president, Evo Morales, has close ties with Argentine leader Cristina Fernandez, who last year proposed that a third country be nominated by Tehran to host the trial of those accused of being involved in the bombing.
Iran rejected the idea, saying none of its citizens were involved.
Iran's state news agency IRNA said Vahidi had visited Mauritania and held talks with the African state's president before traveling to Bolivia.
Guillermo Borges, the AMIA's current president, called Vahidi's visit to Bolivia "a provocation."
The letter said that Bolivia hopes the incident will not affect the "excellent" diplomatic relationship between it and Argentina.
Everyone's happy. What could go wrong?

Another country recognizes an imaginary state

Bolivia has recognized the
imaginary state of 'Palestine' joining Argentina and Brazil, which recognized the same imaginary state a few weeks ago.
Bolivia on Friday joined the list of South American countries that have announced their recognition of a fully sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Israel, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.
Bolivian President Evo Morales made the announcement in Brazil at a conference with regional leaders, Bolivia's Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
“Bolivia recognizes the Palestinian state along 1967 borders, together with Brazil and Argentina,” Morales was quoted as saying.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the move and he thanked Bolivia for its support and praised bilateral relations.
The Bolivian president spoke with Abbas three days prior to the announcement, officials said.
How kind and unsurprising of them. /sarc
