The New York Times' Arrigoni hagiography

We're back again to Vittorio Arrigoni, the Italian terror sympathizer who was killed by a rival terrorist organization this week. Incredibly, the New York Times manages to use 16-year old Daniel Viflic, who died on Sunday night as a result of wounds inflicted by an anti-tank missile fired by 'Palestinian' terrorists on April 7, to
turn Arrigoni into a hero.
On the front page below the fold, Fares Akram and Isabel Kershner began their report with these sympathetic words: For Vittorio Arrigoni, an Italian pro-Palestinian activist who friends said fought peacefully for justice, the end was as violent as it was incongruous. ("Killing of Pro-Palestinian Activist in Gaza Deals a Blow to Hamas," Apr. 16, 2011)
Supporting Hamas is fighting peacefully for justice? A few days ago, on April 7, Hamas fired a highly advanced and deadly anti-tank missile (a Russian supplied Kornet) at an Israeli school bus – a clearly marked yellow schoolbus – injuring the bus driver and gravely wounding the only passenger, 16-year-old Daniel Viflic.
Is this the peaceful justice that the Times credits to Vittorio Arrigoni by uncritically quoting his friends? And considering the extreme violence practiced by Hamas, not just against Israelis, but also against fellow Palestinians, such as those from the rival Palestinian Authority, how could the Times possibly term as “incongruous” any violence involving Hamas rule?
...
In contrast, the Times has quoted no such kind words about Daniel Viflic, the schoolboy who was so gravely wounded in the Hamas bus attack a few days ago. In fact his name has never graced the pages of the New York Times (according to Nexis and google searches). The Times did mention the bus attack in their article on Arrigoni, but only as a vehicle to generate more sympathy for the Italian, who was worried that the attack by his Hamas friends would provoke a response from the Israeli army: In an e-mail to [a friend], he wrote, “I am very tense, exhausted, if [the Israelis] don’t kill anyone in the next 24 hours, I am getting out Thursday. Your V.”
So for the morally obtuse New York Times, a terror attack against a schoolbus that left a young boy fighting for his life ends up being used to evoke sympathy for a defender of the terrorists who carried out the attack.
Here's hoping that those of you who still subscribe to the Times will cancel it.

More on Daniel Viflic HY"D (may God avenge his blood)

On Sunday night, I reported on the
death of Daniel Viflic, the 16-year old who was hit by an anti-tank missile while riding a school bus in the Gaza envelope ten days ago. Here's some more about
Daniel's final hours.
Chief of Pediatric ICU at Soroka Medical Center, Professor Shaul Sofer, said: "Unfortunately Daniel passed away this afternoon. We were not surprised by his passing – he arrived in critical condition, and within a short time his brain stopped functioning.
"Because of the sensitive nature of the case, we continued to give him the best medical care, although objectively we knew that his brain would not recuperate," he added.
According to Sofer, "Daniel arrived at the hospital without blood pressure, after being resuscitated. He suffered from shrapnel that penetrated his brain, and had subsequently stopped breathing, which prevented oxygen from reaching his brain."
Sofer added that after receiving the initial brain scans it was clear that he suffered a critical injury that was irreversible.
Hundreds of people attended Daniel's funeral on Sunday night in the outskirts of Beit Shemesh.
"It's hard to believe he's not here. I thank all those who came and all the support from the religious and seculars alike, even from Arabs and Bedouins. It’s not thanks to us, it's because Daniel was an exceptional child," his father Yitzhak said.
Benny Chen, who knew the family from the time they lived in Hong Kong said: "The father met the mother in Hong Kong where she converted to Judaism and made aliyah out of love for the Land of Israel. They came here to set up a family and raise their children in Israel. Daniel and his sister were their only children.
"They managed to fit in well with the local community [Ramat Beit Shemesh. CiJ], they were quiet and loved by all. The boy Daniel was not meant to be on the bus. He came to visit his grandmother, slept over and the driver who knew him asked to take him for a ride. A ride from which he never returned.”
Zion Yemini, the driver of the school bus which was hit was devastated to hear the news of Daniel's death. "This is very bad news, I so hoped he would stay alive," Yemini said Sunday.
May Daniel's memory be blessed and may he be a straight advocate for his family and friends.

Emergency fund for family of Israeli teen wounded in Gaza envelope on Thursday

An emergency fund has been established for the family of the teenager who was critically wounded by 'Palestinian' terrorists in Thursday's attack on a school bus in the Gaza envelope. It turns out that the teen is not from the Gaza envelope area.
He's from Beit Shemesh (just West of the Jerusalem - Tel Aviv corridor).
Lema'an Achai charity organization of Ramat Beit Shemesh, "One Family" (which specializes in assisting terror victims) and "Paamonim" (which specializes in financial and small business structuring) are coordinating efforts to help the family of 16-year-old Daniel Viflic of Beit Shemesh, who remained in critical condition Sunday with wounds suffered Thursday, when an anti-tank missile. launched by Gaza terrorists, hit the school bus in which he was travelling.
Chairman David Morris of Lema'an Achai says the Viflic family will need $10,000 to make it through the Pesach period which, under normal circumstances, would be a peak season for its catering business, which has been closed by the tragedy.
