Another Obama double standard: Liberia v. Israel

The image comes from here. Embedding it (which is what the site wants you to) would have rogered my entire page, so I screen captured and am giving credit.

Last July, when a Hamas rocket randomly landed five kilometers from Ben Gurion Airport, it took President Obama's Federal Aviation Administration about three hours to ban all US flights to Israel, including several that were turned back.

When I was in the US last week, there was a lot of talk on the radio about President Obama's sending 3,000 US troops to Africa to 'fight' the Ebola virus. Those troops will have their 'boots on the ground' and many may well return to the US with the disease. On the other hand, Obama will not put any boots on the ground to fight Islamic State, which most Americans (including Democrats from what I saw and heard) consider a much greater threat.

And Obama has refused to ban flights from affected countries. And so, on September 20, the first Ebola-infected patient (that we know about) entered the United States via Washington Dulles before continuing on to Dallas. The contrast between Obama's treatment of Israel and his treatment of Liberia has not been lost on the media. Here's Red State's Erick Erickson.
Since then, the Obama administration has been asked about stopping flights into West African countries where Ebola is a problem. Their position is to keep the flights going. But don’t worry. We are taking people’s temperature before they board the flights.
Compare this to the Obama administration banning flights to Israel back in July. It turned out to be a political stunt quickly cancelled after Senator Ted Cruz threatened to block State Department appointments unless questions were answered. The administration claimed that rockets fired by Hamas put flights in jeopardy despite none of the rockets coming close to the airport.
Now, however, we have a person in the United States who flew back from Africa with Ebola. The White House neither wants to stop flights to Africa nor does it want to more closely monitor people coming into the United States from Africa via other countries.
At least this administration is consistent. It will let every one and every thing, including pestilence, cross our border. I bet, if we are patient, the administration will even place Ebola with a nice family somewhere in Middle America and given it government benefits.
Not only did this person enter the United States, he exposed five kids in four different Dallas-area public schools to the virus. Now, a second person may have it as well. Radio talk show host Michael Savage (who has quoted from this blog in the past) has slammed President 'Obola' for his mishandling of the crisis.
Savage who has a doctorate in epidemiology, said Obama refused to employ the basic epidemiological rule of quarantining a deadly virus, “because the far-left agenda is to have an open-borders policy.”
Referring to the commander in chief as “President Obola,” Savage said on his nationally syndicated show Wednesday the “only solution is zero travel in and out of West Africa for any American.”
“You let nobody in from a country where you have a raging epidemic,” he said, emphasizing “microbes do not discriminate.”
“You isolate and you quarantine an entire nation, if necessary.”
Savage addressed the argument that it’s not practical to isolate an entire country or region.
“Is it practical to risk the spread of a killer illness?” he countered.
On Saturday, a prominent rabbi in our neighborhood mentioned the Ebola virus as part of his special talk for the penitential season. He said that Ebola is spreading partly because there simply are no medical facilities in Africa (in Liberia a large percentage of the medical professionals has been infected with the virus and died) and partly because families refuse to disclose when family members are infected. They cover it up.

Sounds just like the Obama administration to do something like that, doesn't it?

Will anyone notice that the NY Times proved Obama wrong?

A New York Times story last weekend, which tried to revive the 'anti-Muslim film' theory for last fall's attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, unintentionally proves that President Obama's focus on the 'Zawhiri faction of al-Qaeda' as the sole source of terrorism in the world is far off base. This is from Caroline Glick.
Kirkpatrick’s claim that al-Qaida played no role in the attack was refuted by the Times’ own reporting six weeks after the attack. It has also been refuted by congressional and State Department investigations, by the UN and by a raft of other reporting.

His claim that the YouTube video did spur some of the attackers to action was categorically rejected last spring in sworn congressional testimony by then-deputy chief of the US mission to Libya Gregory Hicks.

Last May Hicks stated, “The YouTube video was a non-event in Libya. The video was not instigative of anything that was going on in Libya. We saw no demonstrators related to the video anywhere in Libya.”

Kirkpatrick’s larger message – that the reasoning behind Obama’s entire counterterrorist strategy and his overall Middle East policy is totally wrong, and deeply destructive – has been missed because his article was written and published to whitewash the administration’s deliberate mischaracterization of the events in Benghazi, not to discredit the rationale behind its Middle East policy and counterterrorism strategy. This is why he claimed that al-Qaida wasn’t involved in the attack. And this is why he claimed that the YouTube video was a cause for the attack.

This much was made clear in a blog post by editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal, who alleged that the entire discourse on Benghazi is promoted by the Republicans to harm the Democrats, and Kirkpatrick’s story served to weaken the Republican arguments. In Rosenthal’s words, “The Republicans hope to tarnish Democratic candidates by making it seem as though Mr. Obama doesn’t take al-Qaida seriously.”

So pathetically, in a bid to defend Obama and Clinton and the rest of the Democrats, the Times published a report that showed that Obama’s laser-like focus on the Zawahiri-controlled faction of al-Qaida has endangered the US.

By failing to view as enemies any other terror groups – even if they have participated in attacks against the US – and indeed, in perceiving them as potential allies, Obama has failed to defend against them. Indeed, by wooing them as future allies, Obama has empowered forces as committed as al-Qaida to defeating the US.

New York Times presents Obama lies on Benghazi as 'news'

The New York Times has published a 'report' that claims that the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi was the result of an anti-Islam video that was posted on the internet.

How non-credible is this report?

Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: David K).

You don't think that the Obama administration ordered this report, do you?

Consider this: The Democratic National Committee sent out emails on Saturday night, urging recipients to support Democrats in next fall's Congressional elections to keep the Republicans from impeaching President Obama (Hat Tip: Jack W).
The email, subject line “Impeachment,” was sent to Obama for America supporters, imploring them to contribute to the DNC’s 2014 efforts. “What do these people all have in common?,” the email asked, featuring quotes from Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, and Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas discussing the possibility of impeaching Obama for one of his numerous instances of presidential misconduct.
The DNC email discussed the “I-Word” and said that “Republicans are actually excited about the idea.”
“Show these Republicans that they are way, way off-base, and give President Obama a Congress that has his back,” according to the DNC email, noting that Democrats need to win 17 GOP House seats to reclaim a majority.
The DNC, which recently expanded its political tactics to include boycotting independent news outlets, previously supported the last president to be impeached: Bill Clinton.
Obama’s staff changed key talking points on the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack; his Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative groups during the 2012 election cycle; and Obama personally lied to the American people when he told them that they could keep their existing doctors and health insurance plans under Obamacare.
Obama’s expansion of executive branch authority is “setting the stage for something very dangerous in the future” according to Republican Rep. Justin Amash.
Not to mention that Obama is promoting the very dangerous agreement which will lead to a nuclear Iran, and are trying to pummel the United States' sole reliable ally in the Middle East into endangering its security....

They agree on everything, don't they?

US National Security Adviser Lazy Susan Rice piled onto US Secretary of State John FN Kerry's attack on Israeli 'settlements' on Thursday, reiterating that the United States Obama administration considers them 'illegitimate.'
Echoing Palestinian complaints, National Security Adviser and former US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice’s remarks to a Washington think tank came a day after lead Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat resigned for what he said was a lack of Israeli integrity, as ostensibly demonstrated by continued building activity in the West Bank.
“We have seen increased tensions on the ground. Some of this is a result of recent settlement announcements. So let me reiterate: The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity,” Rice told the Middle East Institute, echoing similar comments made by US Secretary of State John Kerry last week.
Calling Israeli 'settlements' 'illegitimate' isn't the first lie Lazy Susan told. Here are four videos of Lazy Susan lying about what happened in Benghazi 14 months ago.

Let's go to the videotapes (Hat Tip for all videos: Mike P).

Spontaneous? Hijacked? Substantial security presence? You mean the one that wasn't allowed near the consulate? Direct result of 'heinous and offensive video'? Really? Not anti-American? Outpouring of sympathy for Ambassador Stevens? As they were dragging him through the streets?

Let's go to the videotape.

There's the 'hateful video' again - the one that Rice knew was a lie by then.

Let's go to the videotape.

There's the 'spontaneous reaction to a video' story again, long after she knew that it was a lie. President ordered additional reinforcements to Tripoli? There's another lie.

And here's the 'spontaneous reaction to a video' lie again. Let's go to the videotape.

Is anyone aware of Rice ever having an independent thought? How did she ever write a PhD thesis?

Gregory Hicks 'This Week' Exclusive Interview on Benghazi Consulate Attacks

Wednesday marks the anniversary of the terror attack on the US consulate in Benghazi. Gregory Hicks is the only senior US diplomat who has been willing to talk about it.

Let's go to the videotape.

President Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, an apparent candidate for President in 2016, have a mutual interest in continuing to cover up this scandal. Shame on both of them.

Ambassador Chris Stevens was murdered by the Muslim Brotherhood, killer is in Egypt

This is incredible. The US knows - and apparently has known for a long time - that its Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens was murdered by the Muslim Brotherhood last September.

Let's go to the videotape (video in Arabic - English summary follows).

Moussa said, addressing U.S. ambassador Anne Patterson (in absentia) on his show:
Ambassador Stevens was killed in Benghazi, and you know who killed him, the U.S. administration knows who killed him, and you know how he was killed and it was a major strike against the U.S. administration, and all of you.
The assassin is now present at Rabia Al-Adawiya [mosque protest] His name is, do you know it or you would like me to inform you? He’s affiliated with Al Qaeda in Libya, his name is Mohsen Al-Azazi, his passport was found in the house of Khairat El-Shater.
That killer is in Rabia Al-Adawiya now, with Safwat Hegazy and Mohammed El-Beltagy, whom you and your administration support and aid. Your administration aids terrorism.
In the course of this statement, Moussa announced three facts:
1. Ambassador Chris Stevens' assassin in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, is named Mohsen Al-Azazi
2. Azizi associates with Mohammed El-Beltagy, the general secretary of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and with Safwat Hegazy, a leading MB cleric.
3. The police found Azizi’s passport in the house of leading MB strategist Khairat El-Shater, presumbably when Shater was arrested on July 5.
Read the whole thing. This explains a lot about why the Obama administration wants Mohammed Morsy restored to power. If the Egyptian army prevails, there's a lot more Benghazigate dirt that's likely to come out that won't help Obama or Hillary Clinton.

We can always count on the Americans to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities

The quote in the title of this post is a quip of Winston Churchill's, and honestly I don't think it's true in this administration. Obama won't do the right thing until it's too late, if at all. Here's Caroline Glick.
The US and Europe are not taken in by Iran because Iran is good at hiding its true intentions.

They are taken in by Iran because they want to be taken in. They want to believe that they don’t have to attack Iran and overthrow the regime to prevent it from becoming a nuclear power. They want to believe they can appease Iran by pretending it isn’t a danger, just as they believe they can end the threat of terror by jihadists in the US military and Benghazi by pretending they don’t exist.

They want to believe these threats can be ignored, or appeased away. And just as Obama and his followers are willing to pretend away Hasan’s actions to protect “diversity,” and to pretend away the September 11, 2012, attack in Benghazi to protect the myth of the Arab Spring, so they are willing to permit Iran to go nuclear to protect the sanctity of appeasement.

The only thing they are willing to put their foot down about is the prospect of an Israeli strike. And they have put their foot down on this issue for the past decade. It isn’t that the US is deliberately enabling Iran to acquire a nuclear arsenal. It is just that the US elite in government and the media care more about protecting their faith in diversity and appeasement than they do about preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power.

They have convinced themselves that the prospect of appeasing Iran will evaporate if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear installations. And so we have seen a parade of senior US defense officials descending on Israel every time it appears that Israel is planning to attack Iran. We have seen a parade of former Israeli military and security chiefs with close ties to the US defense establishment declaring before every available microphone that Israel must not strike Iran and that we can count on Obama to protect us.

But we mustn’t believe their assurances or succumb to their pressure. Obama will not change course. He doesn’t have to. So long as he maintains faith with the god of appeasement, the US media will protect him. And so long as they protect him, he will pay no price for his failures. So he will repeat them.
Indeed. Read the whole thing.

Nixon and Obama: Like brothers from another mother
