Foreign Minister hinting US, Israeli positions in 'talks' are close
Ben Dror Yemini reports that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is hinting that the US and Israeli positions in the current 'talks' with the 'Palestinians' are
actually close.
Writing in Maariv/NRG, senior analyst Ben-Dror Yemini
reported Wednesday that the Palestinian side to the negotiations thinks
that Israel and the United States are more or less on the same page as
regards the “peace talks.” He concludes that Yaalon's comments do not
reflect that of the top Israeli leadership, but rather indicate that
Yaalon is alarmed by the fact that the talks may succeed and Israel may
agree to irresponsibly cede important assets.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has not given his express assent to
Kerry's offers, writes Yemini, but “on the spectrum of responses,
Netanyahu is closer to a positive answer, and the Palestinians are
closer to a negative answer.”
Liberman confirmed in a phone call from Geneva Tuesday that “Israel is willing to go far, but the key is security arrangements.”
He added: “What is clear is that every place that we left, the
Iranians entered. And therfore, security arrangements are the main
thing.”
"As things currently appear, it will be possible to bridge between the American positions and ours,” Liberman stated.
Another senior diplomatic source quoted by Yemini confirmed that the
side currently doing most of the refusing in the talks is the
Palestinian one. Abbas refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish state,
insists that East Jerusalem be recognized as the capital of Palestine,
and refuses to let go of his extremist demands regarding the “right of
return” of Arab refugees, said the source. Abbas is also trying to shore
up support for his rejectionist position from Arab countries, he added.

Here's a translation of a piece by
Ben Dror Yemini, which appeared in Maariv in Hebrew on Tuesday, which discusses the predicament of Lieutenant Colonel Shalom Eisner (Hat Tip:

"We have gone crazy. We have simply gone crazy. Because, there are also facts. And they also deserve a bit of respect. Therefore, firstly, a band of anarchists is running around in the territories, primarily from Europe; they belong to known organizations, most of which, if not all, support Hamas and Islamic Jihad. They are Islamist-to-radical left. Second, the 'bicyclist' Andreas Ias is a member of the International Solidarity Movement (IMS), which has already been involved with assisting terrorism in the past, and even openly and declaratively supports Palestinian 'armed struggle'. Third, these activists are generally more extreme than the Palestinians themselves. And before anyone claims that they are only 'activists against the occupation' it is worthwhile noting that the group's media advisor, Paulo Rosovsky, declared that 'Israel is a non-legitimate entity'. Israel, not the occupation. Fourth, Israel, it would seem, is the only country in the world which allows those who declaratively act to destroy it to act freely, in the name of human rights of course. Fifth, we have had dozens of events in which it became apparent that the filmed footage was totally incomplete, and the more they revealed something the more they hid the real story. 'Pallywood', as termed by Prof. Richard Landis. And here, aided by our media, they succeeded to fade into the background, the facts, their ideology and their agitation and their contention – and to reduce the entire story to a few solitary moments in which an officer struck one provocateur."
Arutz Sheva adds:
"It's been a long time since we had an event that made it possible to portray Israel as a monster," Yemini wrote sarcastically. "No 'Cast Lead,' no massacre in Jenin, not even a mini-intifada. The promises of a 'million man march' toward Israel's border melted into nothingness, the flotillas stopped coming, even the mass flytilla turned out to be bogus. Nada… And then it happened. It may have seemed for a moment that Israel was successful in hiding the fact that it is a monster – but then the plot was exposed. The ultimate proof was given in a seconds-long segment showing IDF officer Lt. Col. Shalom Eisner striking a Danish 'cyclist' with his gun."

Yemini notes that the "cyclists" are in facts anarchists, mostly European, who support Hamas and the Islamic Jihad. "They are part of the red-green alliance between Islamists and the radical Left." The International Solidarity Movement, to which the Danish anarchist belongs, openly supports terror against Israel.

Israel's willfully blind left
Israeli industrialist Dov Lautman supports the New Israel Fund (NIF) - and his son is a member of its board - despite the fact that three of the ten industrial plants the NIF has urged boycotting were founded by none other than
Dov Lautman.
The embarrassing situation was exposed by journalist Ben-Dror Yemini of Ma'ariv, who sees it as symptomatic of leftist "blindness."
As the holiday season drew near, Yemini reported in his Hebrew-language blog, haters of Israel published a list of "Top Ten Brands to Boycott this Christmas." Lautman's "Delta Galilee," a manufacturer of undergarments, is in second place on the blacklist, which is part of the so-called "BDS" ("boycott, divestment and sanctions") campaign against Israel. Lautman is also responsible for the creation of two other firms on the list, Yemini wrote.
Absurdly, however, Lautman also identifies with the controversial New Israel Fund, which supports the global boycott, the journalist explained. Lautman was listed among the signatories of an advertisement in support of the NIF in February, when the Fund came under attack for its support of groups that libeled the IDF following the Cast Lead counter-terror campaign. His son, Noam Lautman, who sits on the board of the Lautman Fund along with his father, is a board member of the Fund, and of Shatil, its "operational arm."
The NIF claims that it does not support organizations that support the BDS movement. However, Yemini said, this claim is a lie: "A group of bodies that enjoy the Fund's support are signatories on a petition calling on the government of Norway to suspend investments in Israel. This is an action that is at the heart of the BDS campaign. Women's Coalition for Peace, which is supported by the Fund, supports BDS activities. We are not talking about one activity, but a set of activities, including active support of the Palestinian version of the boycott."
The Coalition of Women for Peace, added the reporter, collects donations for its own boycott project against Israeli firms through NIF branches worldwide. The Coalition does not enjoy tax-free status, he wrote, but the Fund does.
Delta has no connection to Judea and Samaria or the "occupation" of these Biblical provinces, Yemini noted. The same is true of all but one of the ten blacklisted companies.
Lautman responded to Yemini's expose by saying that he finds the BDS movement "revolting." And yet, he said, "I am proud of my support for the New Israel Fund, and of my son's involvement in the Fund as a board member."
