Europe to allow Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps to operate on its territory
Europe is going to
allow the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps to operate on its territory beginning in 2023.
Making matters significantly worse from the Israeli and European Jewish
perspective is Europe’s decision to allow the Army of the Guardians of
the Islamic Revolution, or the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps as
it usually called in the West, broad latitude to operate within the EU
starting in 2023.
“The EU delisting of IRGC military
organizations and personnel is tantamount to a green light for
Iran-sponsored terrorism. Likewise, the EU delisting of IRGC financial,
engineering, construction, energy and transport sector entities
amounts to European approval of the IRGC’s dominance in Iran’s economy,
which equates to the continued repression of the Iranian people by a
regime that just cashed in on temporarily deferring aspects of its
nuclear program,” Ali Alfoneh, an expert on the Revolutionary Guard, and
a fellow a the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote.
Europe’s
media are not paying attention to some of the fine print in the
nuclear agreement that largely affects their citizen’s security as well
as that of Israel institutions across the continent.
Alfoneh
noted, “After the nuclear agreement signed last week, the United States
will maintain most of its sanctions on individuals and entities
connected to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the regime’s
elite forces for external terrorism and domestic repression. The
European Union, however, has chosen a different path: a mass delisting
of the Guards on the date the deal calls ‘Transition Day.’” Europe’s
“Transition Day” is to take place eight years after the agreement has
been formally implemented.
Alfoneh wrote, “barring unforeseen
circumstances [implementation] will occur at some point over the next
three months. On that day, the EU will delist the IRGC, as well as its
Air Force and Missile Command. Most unexpectedly, it will lift nuclear
sanctions on the Quds Force, the IRGC’s external arm tasked with
‘exporting the revolution’ and extending support to terrorist proxies.”
The
EU is slated to delist Iranian banks such as Ansar and Mehr , which
are under sanctions because of their nuclear proliferation and nuclear
weapons delivery activities. The EU did not object to delisting the
notorious Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Hejazi.
Hejazi is a former commander of the Basij militia, Alfoneh told The Jerusalem Post.

Confederation of Iranian Students statement on UK embassy attack
I received via email the following statement from the Confederation of Iranian Students and the Iranian Freedom Institute regarding the Basij-led attack (that's what they're calling it - the Iranians are calling the attackers 'students') on the British embassy in Tehran on Tuesday.
As the U.S. and its European allies begin to impose effective sanctions on the Islamic Republic, the western democracies should anticipate that the regime will initiate more of these fully-authorized, staged incidents under the guise of a student movement. The so-called students, of course, are plain-clothed basiji following orders from the regime. Even Moussa Ghornani, a member of the legal committee of the Iranian Parliament, admitted unwittingly in a statement that “the students who entered the British Embassy yesterday were members of one of the official and effective organizations within the regime.” The basiji “students” published an announcement in the Raja News (the official news agency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) that railed against the government of Britain because “this evil government had the audacity to sanction our Central Bank.”
The western democracies should take this incident as evidence that the recently imposed sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) have infuriated the regime. And for good reason. The CBI sanctions will disrupt the smooth flow of revenue to the regime that is essential to pay its loyalists, the basiji, and the Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership. The Iranian Freedom Institute (IFI) and the Confederation of Iranian Students (CIS) applauded the imposition of CBI sanctions noting that this is a major step in the right direction.
Contrary to the regime’s propaganda, the Iranian freedom student movement believes the regime has lost its legitimacy and has called repeatedly for its removal. The western democracies should not be misled by the regime’s subterfuge. The Iranian freedom student movement seeks a free, democratic and secular Iran. The Confederation of Iranian Students, in particular, has been at the forefront of this fight for basic human rights and freedoms that the Iranian people desperately seek. Be clear on this point. The Iranian regime, not the average Iranian citizen, is affected by the CBI sanctions and only the imposition of oil sanctions would have a decisive impact on the Islamic Republic.
IFI and CIS believe that the imposition of oil sanctions against the Islamic Republic will cut off the life blood of the regime – the revenue essential to meet the payrolls of its domestic security forces, the basiji and the Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership. The oil sanctions report prepared by the CIS presents a detailed analysis showing how a carefully developed and implemented plan, coordinated closely with the Saudi government, would cripple the Iranian regime and avoid shocking the international oil markets during the current period of international financial turmoil. In this regard, IFI and CIS strongly support French President Sarcozy’s call for international sanctions on the Iranian regime’s oil exports, and will continue their efforts to encourage the U.S. Congress to adopt bipartisan legislation toward that end.
Well, I'm glad to see we've finally done something effective. Imagine if we actually had shut down all access for the Central Bank of Iran to the world financial markets. Maybe they'd even think about stopping the nuclear program.
And with that, I'd like to direct a question or two to whomever sent me this email (yes, I got this anonymously - that's how all these things come - but obviously whoever sent it is at least aware that this blog exists and is probably looking out for this post).

Iran to form 100-million strong Basij army
If you've forgotten Iran's
Basij military police, you can see pictures of them in action in the top left of this post. Now, there may be
100 million of them.
"We will form the 100-million-strong Basij force of the Muslim world to materialize the promise of the late Imam Khomeini about the freedom of the noble Quds," Naqdi said.
He underlined that Basij will bravely and steadfastly continue its struggle and fight for the freedom of Quds from the occupation of Zionist regime and to release all mankind from the claws of the world arrogant powers.
Naqdi's remarks comes against the backdrop the Muslim world's popular uprisings and revolutions which are similar to what happened in Iran in 1979 under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini.
Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.
Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.
While Libya celebrated the victory of its revolution after the death of the country's dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, in October, uprisings continue in several other Muslim states.
So the Iranians think they're going to get together with all of these Arab countries to make war on Israel. What could go wrong?

Assad employing Iranian Basij militia
Shavua tov, a good week to everyone.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has borrowed his friend Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad's militia.
The Beirut Observer last week reported that two planes filled with Iran's Basij militia were flown from Iran to Damascus last Saturday. (The story was picked up by Kol Israel Arabic.)
The purpose was to protect the Assad regime from continuing protests throughout the country.
Arabic news sites also mentioned a YouTube video showing a funeral for one of the people killed in Daraa this week, with the protesters chanting "Neither Iran nor Hezbollah ... only to be a Muslim who is afraid of God."
100 Syrians protested in front of the Syrian embassy in Dubai yesterday, saying that "Israel is more merciful than the Syrian regime, she [Israel] did not do what he [Assad] has done to us" and they accused Syria of importing Hezbollah fighters as well to quash demonstrations, also chanting "Neither Iran nor Hezbollah..."
Hmmm.

Iran plans to cut off all Western oil
Sepah News, the house organ of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, reports that Iran plans to
cut off all Western oil, and admits that Iran helped Hamas and Hezbullah during the Second Lebanon War and Operation Cast Lead.
On Wednesday, March 2nd, Commander of the Basij organization, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naghdi spoke at a conference of specialist working groups of Basiji corps of engineers. “Seventy percent of the world’s fossil fuel reserve is under the feet of the soldiers of the Supreme Leadership and soon oil and gas fields belonging to Muslims, which is now in the hands of America will fall into the hands of the people; that will be the time when all those overlords will have sanctions put on them.” He added: “The enemy is heavily dependent on this energy and the events in the region has them quite agitated, this of course provides us with a hopeful future.”
Naghdi added: “In combating the sanctions our engineers have achieved many impressive things which has clearly frustrated the enemy. And of course our engineers in the nuclear area were shining examples as they were faced with international powers which had colluded against us in preventing this project from going forward, but they did not succeed.”
Naghdi admitted that the Basij militia was in fact instrumental in supporting Palestinians and the Hezbollah during the 22 day and 33 day wars and this has also sparked awareness among people around the world. He said: “Today Zionism is surrounded and it’s days are numbered. If we stay the course and carry out all plans as designed, the awareness that we have inspired will be the basis for the downfall of the overlords.’
Underlining the importance of the changes taking place throughout the region and especially regarding Libya Naghdi claimed: “The Americans have installed their own agent there so that he resists; this then will be a reason for the U.S. to launch a military attack. They’ve always hated the idea of the oil being in control of Muslims, therefore they conspire against all those countries.” He added: “This military resistance in Libya resembles the atrocities committed by Saddam which in fact was America’s own set up as a part of creating the basis for total control over that country. Any action against Libya would be a stupider move than the stupidity of the invasion of Iraq. There are great men in that country and they will never allow their soil to be under American control for a single day. Should the U.S. attack any of the (liberated) countries, it will suffer a blow at the hand of all the nations of Islam.
