More American White Evangelical Protestants than American Jews say God gave Israel to the Jews

This is just about the saddest commentary I've seen on the state of Jewish belief in the United States. A Pew poll finds that a significantly higher percentage of white evangelical Protestants than American Jews believe that God gave Israel to the Jews.

For example, twice as many white evangelical Protestants as Jews say that Israel was given to the Jewish people by God (82% vs. 40%). Some of the discrepancy is attributable to Jews’ lower levels of belief in God overall; virtually all evangelicals say they believe in God, compared with 72% of Jews (23% say they do not believe in God and 5% say they don’t know or decline to answer the question). But even Jews who do believe in God are less likely than evangelicals to believe that God gave the land that is now Israel to the Jewish people (55% vs. 82%).
That very sad statistic translates into stronger support for aid to Israel among evangelicals than among Jews  and into much more realistic views about the prospects for 'peace' and for a 'two-state solution.'

I'm not complaining about the support from evangelicals - I'm complaining about the lack of support from Jews and the lack of basic Jewish beliefs among those who call themselves Jews.

Read the whole thing.

The Progressive New Left Democrat program comes before any religious identity. In multiple countries. The Left in each country nastily supports the Left in other countries, reinstituting slavery, coercion, and starvation around the planet. You're complaining about the Left in the US (where most Jewish communal organizations reside), while I am caterwauling about your Left, or, if not Left, the Green and Data $lu$h applicants/awardees, as well as Israel's MFA, consistently advocating for the Marxist Dems. The "Pro" label would seem best if two-way, no?

Well, here's another Evangelical Christian American who also firmly believes that God gave the Land of Israel to the Jewish people. That most of the Jewish inhabitants were forcibly removed by the Roman military dictatorship doesn't invalidate that ownership title, formally re-stated again in 1948.

I'll add to that my agreement with the clear, to-the-point quote from Mike Huckabee, "I'm amazed that anyone would question the right of any Jew to live anywhere in the Land of Israel."

The Palestine Mandate was divided, the Palestinian part is known as Jordan. The rest is the Land of Israel.

As for Israel's "poor", "suffering" Arab minority, they'll just have to learn to live with:
1. having far greater civil liberties in Israel than they'd have in any Arab country;
2. access to far better healthcare, far greater lifespans, far lower infant mortality rates in Israel than in any Arab country;
3. far greater educational and economic opportunities in Israel than in any Arab country.

That so many Arabs are going to the trouble of getting Israeli residence documentation, rather than "Palestinian", is a tacit acknowledgment of all these facts. The ignorant bigotry, bloody-handed hostility of the troglodyte "Palestinian Authority" notwithstanding.

Sunlight, for many American Jews, liberalism IS their religion. The liberal agenda is being given over as Torah. I've seen the sick and twisted speeches that are sent out. With the health care debate, one such "rabbi" said that health care is a right, it says it in the torah.
These people would throw Israel under the bus if their god tells them to.
