Jordan slams construction of 'egalitarian prayer platform' at Western Wall

The government of Jordan has slammed the construction of a large platform for egalitarian prayer at the Western Wall (pictured - access seems to be via a ramp at the bottom of the picture).

The news agency quoted Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs, Mohammad Momani saying that the construction of the platform "is a blatant attack on the Muslim monuments and Waqf (Islamic trust) land which is an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is adjacent to the Western Wall. 

Actually, the mosque is on the other side of the wall at the top of the picture, so Momani's charge is quite absurd.

Momani stressed Jordan's position "to exert political, diplomatic, and legal efforts to protect and care for Muslim and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem," and warned of "Jewish settlers and extremists' continued call to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the pretext of Jewish holidays," according to the report.  

I have not heard of any such calls, and the idea of Jordan's Wakf protecting Christians is beyond absurd.
