In 2011, an unnamed foreign government asked the FBI for information regarding Tamerlan ­Tsarnaev, the 26-year old Islamic terrorist who was killed in a shootout with Boston police early Friday morning. The request was based on information that Tamerlan ­Tsarnaev was a follower of - wait for it - 'radical Islam.'

So an unnamed foreign government said that the older brother was a follower of 'radical Islam' and this had what effect on the process for the younger brother becoming a US citizen?

And just for good measure....

By contrast, Tamerlan had a green card, but was not a citizen. His father said in a New York Times interview that the domestic violence charges against him might have thwarted Tamerlan’s attempt to gain United States citizenship.
