Man who's tired of history doesn't regret Oslo

"I have become totally tired of history, because I feel history is a long misunderstanding." (Shimon Peres, Wall St. Journal, September 30, 1994) [More quotes here].
He's tired of history alright. So tired that he cannot even acknowledge its reality when he's confronted with it. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, President Shimon Peres says he has no regrets about the Oslo accords. None
In a wide-ranging interview with The Jerusalem Post, the full text of which appears in Monday’s Independence Day supplement, the president contends that the Oslo Accords, signed in September 1993, were not a mistake, because without them, there would be only one Palestinian camp – a camp of terror.
Because of the accords, he says, there is a Palestinian peace camp.
There's a 'Palestinian peace camp'?!? Who's in it?!? Abu Mazen, who says he will never accept Israel as a Jewish state? Salam Fayyad, who throws Israeli goods into a fire to prove that he doesn't accept peace? Yasser Arafat, who started an intifada? Just who is in the 'Palestinian peace camp'?
His ardent wish, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Israel’s independence, is to bring an end to the conflict, so that all children in the region can live in freedom and friendship.
If I weren't in mourning, I would insert a video of Kumbaya here....  If he really thinks that the Islamists who dominate our region are ever going to let us live in peace without being vanquished first, he is hopelessly naive....  Yes, he is.
He remains confident that peace is not impossible, if people can rid themselves of preconceived notions.
“Impossibility is a product of our prejudice,” he says.
I'd love to know what he eats for breakfast in the morning....

I wish it was his words. He should choke on them.

  2. I remember knowing Oslo was a bad move. All my friends were for it. Just because people are tired of constant war doesn't mean the aggressors are ready to back off. Peres just knows he wants peace, he simply cannot see how serious Fatah and Hamas are about killing every last Israeli.

  3. He's right of course, there is a Palestinian peace camp.
Unfortunately they're all Jewish and live in Tel Aviv.
