Rolling Stones story was... wait for it... a Purim joke
Okay, I got enough mileage out of this one.Remember the story last week about the Rolling Stones defying the BDS'ers and coming to Israel for Independence Day?
Well, if you go read the last line of my source for the story, you'll find out that it was a Purim joke....
That's especially funny coming from the Jewish Press, which I can recall going ballistic back in the late '70's or early '80's over a parody of their print edition....
I can only agree with what Weasel Zippers had to say about this:
Part of a good prank is the total believability of the story. You can see Mick saying exactly what he is quoted as saying, and the BDS movement has a few crazy rabbis associated with it.Indeed.
When we read this story, it didn’t have the final line “This is a Purim Prank” and it had already been picked up by major Israeli papers and other news media.
So good on Jewish Press for getting everyone and maybe the Rolling Stones will oblige, play Israel and give BDS a big what-for.

I have been coming to your site as a trustworthy source of news on Israel for a long time and am very disappointed by this, Carl. I passed this on to a friend as well.
What is funny about saying something is and then saying it's not?
