Incredibly, Israel's Supreme Court, which believes it's more equal than our other branches of government, issued an injunction on Saturday prohibiting the government from evacuating the 'Palestinians' who are camped out on E-1 between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim. The government is now trying to get the injunction lifted.
The High Court of Justice issued a temporary injunction against the evacuation of the make-shift tent city on Saturday.
The state was scheduled to turn to the High Court on Saturday evening in a request to cancel the injunction and allow security forces to carry out Netanyahu's order.
Pending the discussion in the High Court, Netanyahu ordered security forces to block off the area in order to prevent the arrival of additional activists to E1. The area was declared a closed military zone.
Palestinians over the weekend hailed the establishment of the new "village" as a turning point in the conflict with Israel and a step that would pave the way for Palestinian independence.
On Saturday, Fatah called on its supporters to head to the area to prevent IDF soldiers and police from evicting the activists.
Several senior Palestinian officials who tried to join the activists said they were turned back by soldiers and policemen.
One of them, PA Labor Minister Ahmed Majdalani, complained that the IDF confiscated his Israeli-issued VIP card.
PLO official Hanan Ashrawi and PA Minister for Social Welfare, Majida Al-Masri, were also prevented from entering the new outpost.
