About Me
- Name: Carl in Jerusalem
- Location: Jerusalem, Israel
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004. You can contact me at: IsraelMatzav at gmail dot com

B"H - This wishing Happy Xmas by the president and this free xmas tree in the so called Jewish State really is a HUGE offence to the Jews and a Chilul Hashem!
Thank you, Ariel, for saying what has to be said.
What a disgrace to Kavod Hakadosh Baruch - and not in Boston - but in Eretz Yisrael and in Yerushalayim no less.
Muddled Jews!
Trees: the world's most "renewable" resource. Being at the ends of the diaspora, getting along, I will refrain from the internal "Christmas" discussion and the fact that getting people to swarm in for "Free" stuff is demolishing Western Civ... But I will weight in on forestry!
Hopefully, they are bringing in trees that are part of a thinning and forest health program... By putting out fires all these decades, the forests have gained so much fuel loading that they burn like an inferno, killing everything, rather than being a regenerating event. In the U.S., the privately owned land that has been thinned and cherished is operating through burns, erosion, etc. as it should. So, if the trees are the dollar trees that the diaspora has donated, thinned out to maintain healthy hiking land, that makes me happy.
