US to drill with Israel against Iranian retaliatory attack
A report in the Hebrew daily Maariv says that the United States and Israel will conduct a joint drill on defending against an Iranian attack... in October.Thousands of Israeli soldiers and about 3,000 American counterparts are scheduled to take part, this October in what is being billed as the largest-ever joint exercise involving the two countries, according to a Monday report by the Ma'ariv daily.Hmmm.
The exercise is supposed to simulate an Iranian missile attack following an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Hi Carl.
It was to be expected that Obama would pull this 'rabbit' out of his hat before the elections.
Whoops! When I first read this, I thought it was talking about the "drill-baby-drill" kind of drill. I was so thrilled! But no. Calm down. It is a different drill. Also needed, but not so thrilling.
Sunlight,
The key here is that they are drilling the response to an Iranian retaliatory attack on Israel. That implies that they are assuming that Israel will strike preemptively, something Obama has been trying to avoid at all costs.
I can't believe Obama knows about this. Countdown to cancellation 10, 9, 8...
