Israeli rower won gold medal, sang national anthem on her own
Some of you may recall an incident about six weeks ago in which Kuwait didn't have a recording of Kazakhstan 's national anthem... and played the Borat joke version instead. I still laugh thinking about that one. Here's a very different and much more moving story. An Israeli won a rowing competition in Italy. The Italians didn't have a tape of HaTikva, Israel's national anthem. So the winner picked up a microphone and sang it herself. And the winner... is kind of special.
Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Mrs. Carl).

Italy didn't have a copy of the anthem? That's hard to believe. Some idiot there probably thought that Israel wouldn't have a chance to win. Fooled them! And good for her!
actually ... I heard the beginning few bars the organizers played and recognized them: it is the version of the Hatikvah sung by Enrico Macias, a French singer. Had the lady waited 10 seconds longer, she would have heard the proper tune. Enrico embellished his version with a few opening bars of his own ..
Well Done that will teach them.
Bravo to that young lady. The word that comes to mind is invincible.
And let's all hope that as medicine makes great leaps forward, particularly with Israeli medicine, that a cure for her condition is found.
