US doubling minesweepers in Arabian gulf

Iran issued some more threats to shut the Persian Arabian Gulf after SWIFT blocked Iran from using its bank clearing system. As a result, the United States is doubling its minesweepers in the area to ensure that the Gulf stays open.
The United States is sending four minesweeping ships and four minesweeping helicopters to augment its naval forces in the Persian Gulf, the US Navy's top officer told a US Senate committee on Thursday.

"We are moving four more minesweepers to the region, making eight," Adm. Jonathan Greenert said in the Senate Armed Services Committee, declining to say when the deployment would take place.
Hmmm.

Hmmm indeed. Since 6-8 months is considered the max timeframe by the US Navy for a ship deployment, their sending those ships now makes a fairly distinct calendar marking on when "things are going to happen."
