Long overdue
JPost reported just before the Sabbath started that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is considering withdrawing Israel's ambassador to the United Nations' 'human rights council' (of which Israel is, of course, not a member). That's a move that's long overdue.Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Friday that he was considering withdrawing the Israeli ambassador to the UN Human Rights Council and severing ties with the body, following its establishment of a fact-finding mission to probe the effects of settlements on Palestinian human rights. There is no way we should be cooperating with the 'human rights council' in any way, shape or form. But the only chance of the US withdrawing is if Hussein Obama loses the election. What could go wrong?
Liberman added that he will convene a meeting in the foreign ministry to discuss the possibility that Israel will not cooperate with the council in their investigation.
During a meeting with President of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam, the foreign minster also said that he will try to persuade countries such as the United States to quit the council too.
