Unfortunately, even many Israelis don't know how to react to Gingrich

Unfortunately, even a lot of Israeli politicians don't know how to react to Republican candidate Newt Gingrich's statements that the 'Palestinians' are an invented people and that they are terrorists.
Israeli Cabinet minister Uzi Landau said Gingrich was "right." He claimed the Palestinians do not have their own language or culture, and are instead part of the broader Arab world.

...

In Israel, a couple hard-line politicians welcomed Gingrich's comments.

However Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said the minister Landau was speaking for himself and did not represent official government policy. He added the government would not comment on the statements because they were part of an "internal American political campaign."

Danny Danon, deputy speaker of Israel's parliament and a minority voice among his hawkish Likud party, said Gingrich "understands very well the reality we live in in the Middle East."
Hey folks - if we get an American President like Gingrich who recognizes what the 'Palestinians' are, let's be grateful.

Any of the Republican candidates - except Ron Paul - would be an improvement over the incumbent in regard to Israel, but kudos to Gingrich for facing down the great lie in public. At least now the truth has its boots on and can start stomping on the lies!

Why are you so excited about Gingrich?

He backtracked almost immediately after his original interview.

Shy Guy, I would say basically any of these people (other than Ron Paul) would be better than the incumbent. They won't send guns to drug cartel gangbangers if they can help it.... For most of the (R) field (other than Ron Paul), any hesitancy in what they say re Israel will relate to not wanting to hurt Israel or cause you extra trouble. I don't see any of them as being marxist caliphate Muslim Bros supporters ... although I'm not sure what the deal is in the RNC and with Perry's Texas school issues. I think there is a big issue with some RNC guy - can't remember his name.

On the other hand, there we have Glenn Beck, going off the rails, saying that Tea Partiers who vote for Gingrich rather than Obama are only doing it because they are racist. Dude. Cancelled my subscription to the GBTV, which I spent zero time on, but wanted to support independent efforts. BTW, Gingrich says a lot of different things, but his actual govt track record is conservative and he did actually do a decent budget. What I want to hear from him is what he says about the internationalist confiscation plan, that is turning out to be based on fake data trends. As I've said before, I'll buy tech improvements to support them if I can (e.g., I've had a Prius for 5 yrs and it is fabulous), but I don't want govts confiscating based on the Gaia Warmer ReligionReplacement. Anyway, I can't figure out why people are so rabid about these candidates rather than reasoning it through and trying to get a spreadsheet of their actual records, their quotes, their projected actions, etc.

Thanks Shyguy, I was about to say the same thing..

Gingrich is incredibly stupid. Shows how low the GOP have sunk, and why they need a total house clean out.

No candidate can take office with that belief. No nation or country or it's people exist till they are created. That has been the scenario since the beginning of time. The right to land is only by conquest. Thus it's a moot point. Palestinians exist simply because that is what the UN, which Israel and the US are signatories to say exist.

Gingrich is being silly and stupid, incredibly so.

Not that it matters, the GOP won't win, they do not have one winnable candidate. Not even one.

I suspect Gingrich knows that, hence thinks he can mouth off.

Well, OK, I suppose Palenstianians are a recently invented people. But, um, American's are, too -- they've just been around a bit longer, no?

Well, name another President or serious candidate for President that has openly called out the Palestinian lie.

So what is your strategy? Keep quiet while he takes the heat and backlash - and then complain about the lack of candidates who support Israel?

"The right to land is only by conquest."

So then you concede that the Jewish state of Israel has the right to all of Judea and Samaria since we 'conquered' it (we say 'liberated') in 1967?

Hmmm.

The term 'invented' is meant to convey the fact that the surrounding Arab nations created the notion of a Palestinian nation/people in order to get back at Israel, having repeatedly failed with military methods. Even the colonial powers didn't do that.

Carl, I can concede that, because the rule of conquest no longer applies since the creation of the UN. That is why it was created, to stop wars.

If you want to go back to the times when conquest meant you keep the land, well then remember, It can work against you too as the the Crusaders discovered after 300 years of holding on to Jerusalem, when it was taken back from them.
