Chanuka at the White House comes a little early
Chanuka at the White House came early this year because the President hopes to be in Hawaii when Chanuka actually starts next week... although he's trying to keep the Congress around Washington to pass the continuation of a payroll tax cut that sounds like a drop in the bucket to this observer (I heard Obama on the radio saying that 160,000 people would have to pay $1,000 apiece extra in taxes if it wasn't passed). Funny - wasn't Obama the guy who tried to send the Congress home when they wanted to extend the Bush tax cuts?Anyway, let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: NY Nana).

"Payroll taxes" are not income taxes or regular withholding. They are FICA, which is social security and medicare. And since there really is no "social security trust fund", these FICA payments go straight into the accounts that pay our seniors social security retirement and medicare. The Greatest Generation, who sacrificed to save us from totalitarians last century, just in time for us to cave to totalitarianism from amongst us. Obama's Team already axed half a billion out of Medicare for his Obamacare. Now he is rabblerousing that if people harass their congress members to pass his payroll deal, then they can axe out another bunch that would keep seniors' payments going. And if the congress doesn't pass it, then blame the "other" (seniors!) for the $1k you didn't get to keep for yourself. Obama is such a divider.
