Are Jews this stupid?

I've written in the past that you have to take Israeli polls with a grain of salt and to consider, more closely than usual, the poll's source and biases. This is one of those times. There is a poll out on Thursday that is published by the Saban Center. The Saban Center is a left-wing think tank sponsored by Haim Saban (pictured), an Israeli ex-pat who is the largest donor to the Democratic party.

The poll's headline is "We'll give up nukes if Iran does the same" and the main finding of the poll is "65% of Israeli Jews willing to give up nuclear weapons if Islamic Republic waives its own program." But not really. It's all in how you ask the question.
According to the findings, released by Saban Center for Middle East Policy, 65% of Israeli Jews preferred if neither Israel nor Iran to held nuclear arms, and opted for a nuclear-free Middle East. In contrast, some 19% of repondents said they want both countries to have nuclear capabilities.
And how many of those 65% are only willing to see Israel give up its nuclear weapons as part of a nuclear (and chemical and biological weapon) free Middle East - a utopia that is unlikely to ever happen? Are 65% of Israeli Jews foolish enough to think that no Arab country will attempt to develop nuclear weapons? I doubt it.
Asked a series of questions about the Israeli-Arab conflict, some two thirds of respondents said the government must promote a comprehensive peace plan, based on 1967 borders, with a demilitarized Palestinian state. Some 71% said they agreed with a definition of Israel as "the homeland of the Jewish people and all its citizens."
Note 'demilitarized.' That will never happen either. And as to the definition, were there other choices? Was there a choice that said, "the homeland of the Jewish people" without "and all its citizens"? We're not told that.
The survey was published ahead of the Saban Forum that will open in Washington on Thursday, and is expected to draw senior American and Israeli officials including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Opposition chairwoman Tzipi Livni, and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
In other words, this survey was published as fodder for a very partisan shindig.

Read the whole thing. It goes on to claim that we love Obama. Nonsense.

If you know any Jewish college age kids, who may have conservative tendencies, they are surrounded by left profs, if not other students, and are probably in bunker mode at this point. Send them here and remind them that, even if they don't publicly get involved, they still have a secret ballot on election day.

RJC has an overwhelming task and they, understandably are focused on the big stuff. It took several months to talk them into starting this campus page for the college kids. Anybody with any resources... please help this effort if you can (is this ok to plug, Carl?). Go here to donate:

Hmmm.... I guess the next step will be to get them to set up a separate paypal or something for the "RJC on campus" activity so that all the $$ don't get used up in the big stuff. But there's only a year left, so don't hold back!

I thought the official Israeli position was that Israel does not have nuclear weapons. How can they give up that which they deny having?
