Tom Friedman tries again
The amazing thing about Tom Friedman is that no matter what happens in this region and no matter what dangers Israel is in, his solution is always the same: That Israel should take (foolhardy) risks by giving the 'Palestinians' everything they want. This time, Friedman acknowledges that Prime Minister Netanyahu's concerns over the Arab spring in Egypt are valid. But Friedman wants us to strengthen 'Fayyadism,' which will soon be lost (if it ever existed) as a result of the Fatah - Hamas reconciliation. And he wants us to attempt to ward off Islamism in our midst by creating a 'Palestinian state' which will likely be controlled by... Islamists.
All of that, of course, assumes we can reach an agreed solution with the 'Palestinians' short of committing suicide, which we all know we can't.
So Tom, maybe it's time to find another subject beside Israel. Why don't you try Iran?

Why would Friedman, knowing the risks to Israel's patency, having a feeling that he cannot predict the future with any reasonable accuracy, persist in his view that Israel must be weakened?
What would he suggest doing if Judea and Samaria were turned over to the Muslims, all its Jewish inhabitants uprooted, and the Palestinians turned hostile to the remnants of the Jews, continuing their attempts to disappear Israel?
Should he not have considered the previous questions, of what value is he to world order, since he knows full well that Israel will not go peacefully to its grave again!
Mr. Tom is the quintessential example of why I would NEVER give up Oslo, where the SIGNED-BY-EVERYBODY statement calls for stopping rockets and other attacks on Israeli civilians as Step 1. Once you guys tear up Oslo, there will be nothing standing in Mr. Tom's way of increasing his drumbeat for Israel's suicide.
