Happy Turkey Day!
I want to wish all my American readers, wherever you are, a Happy Turkey Day today. I hope you're enjoying your long weekend. And for those who are worried that it's forbidden for Jews to celebrate a non-Jewish holiday, according to most rabbis, this isn't that holiday and that's why I can wish you a happy one.
Let's go to the videotape.
Just replace Herbert Hoover with Barack Obama?

Thanksgiving does have a religious meaning in the sense of showing gratitude to G-d.
This has nothing to do with worship of idols and if it were, Jews would not be allowed to take part it.
I would add its a spiritual holiday - not a Christian one but a belief that the human need to pay respect to the numinous plays a large part in our lives.
So when people sit down for the meal, partly its to reflect that without G-d, none of us would be here and we need to strive to be in awe of Him, whether or not in a national or a Jewish holiday!
G-d bless America and G-d bless Israel!
