IDF calls out the dogs

On Yom Haatzmaut (Independence Day), Mrs. Carl took the three youngest boys to an IDF display at Ammunition Hill, the highlight of which was a session with a dog trainer. It seems that the IDF's dogs are capable of finding anything - including 'Palestinians' trying to sneak past the 'security fence' to find work in Israel.
The Israeli army readily admits to using dogs in its operations in the West Bank, but says they are only brought in as a way of protecting the sprawling separation barrier from Palestinian vandals looking to create openings which would allow "terrorists" to infiltrate Israel.

"In order to prevent damage to the security fence, the IDF (army) uses a number of different measures, including the canine unit and its trained dogs, while taking appropriate precautionary measures to avoid unnecessary injury," the army said in a statement sent to AFP.

It said troops had been working with dogs in Ramadin on the southern tip of the West Bank where the barrier had been purposely damaged "to permit the passage of terrorists into Israel" but argued that the use of dogs "limits bodily injuries and obviates the use of other measures."

But Palestinian labourers tell a different story.
Read the whole thing to hear their whining.

I have two thoughts on this. First, if you know that the IDF is going to try to stop you with dogs from getting through the fence - which the IDF and the State of Israel have every right to do - then you shouldn't be trying to get through the fence whether you're a terrorist or 'only' a laborer. The bottom line is that if we let the laborers through, the terrorists get through too.

Second, if the IMF and the World Bank and all the other grand poobas of the World's finance believe that the 'Palestinian Authority' is ready to be a 'state,' why are all these people still dependent on Israel for jobs? Isn't one of the fundamental responsibilities of a state to facilitate the formation of capital with which people can be hired to work? Where are all the jobs that the 'Palestinian Authority' should have created over the past 18 years?

Oh, never mind. I forgot. They've been too busy using that money to buy weapons and to pay the families of 'martyrs' and jailed terrorists. That's why anyone who doesn't come from a family of 'martyrs' and jailed terrorists is out of work and possibly looking to make his children into 'martyrs.' How silly of me to forget.

My son is in the canine unit. They use dogs for many purposes, and different dogs have different jobs. (For example, my son went with dogs after the Fogel killings, and the dogs correctly pointed out from whence the intruders had come.)In all cases that dogs are used, the chances of capturing a suspect live are grater, and from these suspects often valuable information is gained.
