Obama demands 'dramatic statements' from Bibi, Likud demands that he build

President Obama's obsession with the 'Palestinians' is getting worse. Now, he's demanding 'dramatic statements' from Prime Minister Netanyahu, including a reference to the 1949 armistice lines '1967 borders.'
The Obama Administration will not make do with statements that are "not dramatic" alongside a new peace initiative reportedly planned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, officials in Jerusalem say.

The political sources said they fear that the US Administration will demand clear reference to the 1967 borders as part of the plan and a subsequent Netanyahu speech.

The officials said the PM would not be able to address sensitive issues such as Jerusalem's division or Palestinian refugees. Hence, the sources estimated that the issue of borders "must be on the table," with America expecting Netanyahu to refer to the 1967 borders as the basis for a final-status agreement and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

In the past, the prime minister has refrained from addressing the issue of borders, for fear that any statement on the matter would obligate Israel to agree to such boundaries in a future agreement.

...

Political sources said that while ties with America have not been harmed, the relationship between President Obama and PM Netanyahu is "not as intimate as it should have been. An Israeli source said that the White House holds "great mistrust" towards Netanyahu and "has not granted him one minute of mercy."
But over the weekend, JPost reported that 19 of the Likud's 27 members signed a statement telling Bibi 'just build Bibi, build.'
“Netanyahu feels that he is alone, under pressure from Obama and the world, but he is not,” council director-general Naftali Bennett said.

“The entire government, the entire Likud and the overwhelming majority of Israelis are telling Netanyahu: Just build already. The only government since the Six Day War that has applied such a freeze on the cities in Judea and Samaria is the Netanyahu government. This is unacceptable.”

The list of quotes includes ministers Moshe Ya’alon, Silvan Shalom, Yuval Steinitz, Gideon Sa’ar, Gilad Erdan, Yuli Edelstein, Israel Katz and Limor Livnat, deputy ministers Ayoub Kara and Leah Ness, and MKs Ze’ev Elkin, Danny Danon, Tzipi Hotovely, Tzion Pinyan, Haim Katz, Yariv Levin, Miri Regev, Carmel Shama-Hacohen and Ophir Akunis.

“The freeze is over and we must return to building throughout the Land of Israel, because that’s the way it must be,” said Steinitz, who is close to Netanyahu. “We made problematic gestures whose time has ended. The time has come to return to building and getting built.”

Absent from the list were dovish ministers Dan Meridor, Michael Eitan and Yossi Peled, Netanyahu himself, recently promoted Social Welfare Minister Moshe Kahlon, and deputy minister Gila Gamliel, who does not want to rock the boat when she wants to be a minister.

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and Minister-without- Portfolio Bennie Begin, who both back building in Judea and Samaria, are not on the list, because Rivlin feels he needs to be statesmanlike in his post, and because Begin was sick this week.
In other words, it's 23 out of 27. The only ones really opposed are Netanyahu himself, Meridor, Eitan and Peled. You may recall that Netanyahu recruited Meridor and Peled to the Likud.

And the freeze in Judea and Samaria is real. Also over the weekend, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported a 72% decline in housing starts in Judea and Samaria in 2010.

Netanyahu is like a deer in the headlights. He's frozen and cannot make up his mind: Does he want to please Obama, or does he want to please the vast majority of Israelis including an overwhelming majority in his own party? If Israel were a true democracy, this would be a no-brainer. But Ariel Sharon proved six years ago that Israel is not a true democracy. The party's central committee - which Netanyahu succeeded in entrenching last year - can keep Netanyahu in power despite his country's wishes. Or can they?

What could go wrong?

Hi Carl.

Between what's happening everywhere else in the world ,Obama still has to come back to his favorite pass time 'bash' Israel.I will never understand why a single Jewish person would support this man, haven't they learned anything from the ghetto's during Nazi Germany, because that is exactly what he wants a ghetto only on a bigger scale.

Netanyahu may have rigged the Central Committee to keep him in power but like the dictators in the Arab World, he is going to find out wielding absolute and oppressive power over the Jews will gain him nothing in the end. He can continue to defy the majority for a time. But eventually he will pay the price.

He now has a historical choice: he can help to build the Land Of Israel and go down in the history books at the man who spared the country the peril of a Palestinian state or he can continue down his present path and consign the country to decades of injustice, suffering and the ever present of threat of war and become a by-word for a Prime Minister who helped to inflict a mortal threat on his own country.

Netanyahu can no longer avoid a hard decision. He can no longer please every one. He will have to take the fork in the road and go down on it. Here's betting he picks the one that pleases Israel's Left, the Europeans and Obama.

What could go wrong indeed

Well, a dramatic announcement could be Bibi openly disputing O's reflexive and hostile Israel-concessions-first policy of appeasing potential Islamic challengers and announcing the suspension of any indirect American or EU-mediated negotiations with the PA. The EU and Obama could however join the PA as members of the Palestinian negotiating team openly and honestly. Obama and the remaining members of the Palestinian team should, however, expect no up front concessions until Israeli interests are seriously addressed.

Obama does not even act in the best interests of the Republic of America!
Of course Bibi should not trust him!
Would you take the advice of Osama too, Israel?
You would have to be insane to trust Obama with anything. Obama is a incorrigible liar and a Muslim. He is hoping this war he is instigating will end with the Muslims winning. But when they START this war, we need to FINISH it(!!), by pushing our border back as far as we can. And EVERY time they start with us we need to make it BIG TROUBLE FOR THEM. Not a half hearted effort, a 100% live or die effort!
AND if OBAMA is giving voice to the demands of our enemies, the rules of war are like this; when you have a WAR the land you WIN is yours!!
Otherwise Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and California should be given back to MEXICO! And Americans are living in OCCUPIED MEXICO! And America is oppressing the rightful land owners, the illegal Mexicans, by paying them less than U.S. Citizens and CREATING A SLAVE CLASS in a nation that declares falsely that EVERY man is equal. So they should GET OUT of Mexico's land and give it back to Mexico.
No really, I am just kidding. Kidding.
The point being, Obama is no longer relevant to Israel as Israel becomes the great nation it was meant to be. Obama stands on the path Hashem has instructed Israel to walk on, and says,"GO ANOTHER WAY! THIS IS THE WRONG WAY!!"
He should be ignored at the least. Just DISCONNECT, say thank you for the cash; uh-huh,uh-huh, whatever....
Say whatever works, milk the cow, sell the milk and become self-reliant, Israel. But never let your enemies make the rules.
Israel needs to disconnect to the point where we can make our own rules about running OUR country. And America feels like a new guest does upon entering the hosts' homes for the first time. RESPECTFUL, and RELUCTANT to IMPOSE its' instrusive self on the set daily routine of the hosts.
