Bibi buys some time
Prime Minister Netanyahu has bought himself some time or been granted an extension. But for what? The extension is the result of a 'crucial' quartet meeting being postponed from March to April. Israel fears that at the meeting the quartet will come out in favor of a 'Palestinian state' based upon the
But why was the extension granted? Was it granted or did it just happen? Those who know are not saying. Those who don't know either say that it happened in the expectation that Netanyahu is going to introduce some sort of dramatic new initiative in the coming weeks (something that Netanyahu has not said, but many of those around him have said), or that the quartet is currently preoccupied with events in the Arab world.
The notion that the world is too busy with the rest of the Arab world to deal with the 'Palestinian' Arabs would make far more sense in terms of what the world's priorities ought to be. But nothing in this region proceeds according to logic given the 'international community's obsession with Israel.
What could go wrong?

I still vote for 3 "states", like U.S. "states", under a federal govt called "Israel". Or one state called Israel under a federal govt called Israel, with two "territories", like Puerto Rico. In the U.S., states have all different laws and privileges. Sometimes the "national guard" is deployed to a state to restore order. It's really strange to me that Israel is being so pressured to do things differently than other modern countries do.
A new Netanyahu initiative is going to go nowhere.
The Palestinians will not make peace with Israel when they see they can get everything they want without having to negotiate with Israel.
If Israel was a strong horse, it would move to dissolve the PA and annex Yesha immediately.
Good luck with that happening in our lifetime.
