You won't believe this... Gadhafi's mother was Jewish
During a discussion on Israel Radio they just dropped this little tidbit. There is a Jew left in Libya. His name is Muammar Gadhafi. At first, I found it hard to believe, but when I Googled "Gadhafi's mother was Jewish" (without the quotes), the first three results all confirmed it. Gadhafi's mother was a Jewish woman who converted to Islam at the age of 9 or the daughter of a Jewish woman who left her husband for an Arab Sheikh. Those two narratives are not mutually exclusive. I kid you not.A year and a half ago, two Israeli women who claimed to be relatives of Gadhafi's were interviewed on Israel's Channel 2 television.
The older of the two interviewees, Guita Brown, claimed that she is Gaddafi’s second cousin: her grandmother was the sister of Gaddafi’s grandmother. The younger of the two women, Rachel Saada, Brown's granddaughter , explained in more detail: “The story goes that Gaddafi’s grandmother, a Jewess, was married to a Jewish man at first. But he treated her badly, so she ran away and married a Muslim sheikh. Their child was the mother of Gaddafi.” While Gaddafi’s grandmother converted to Islam when she married the sheikh, according to Jewish religious law (and common sense), she was ethnically still Jewish. And that makes Gaddafi's mother a Jewess. And if Gaddafi's mother is a Jewess, what does that make Gaddafi?Let's go to the videotape (sorry - the interview is only in Hebrew).
That means Gadhafi is Jewish - he can even be counted in a minyan (quorum of Jews for prayer).
More to the point, Gadhafi is entitled to 'return' to Israel under the Law of Return. Given that he may soon be looking for political asylum and the usual candidates (the Saudis and the Europeans) are unlikely to take him, could he be looking to come to Israel?
Oy vey.... What could go wrong? (Well, the professor in the video doesn't believe it).

If he was born of a Jewish mother, yes that would make him a Jew! And that probably would explain his deep-seated anti-Semitism. If you want to show you're really pure then you hate the Jews more than the others. And that is precisely the case with Qaddafi!

Anything's possible. Wasn't there a big powerful guy in Yemen a couple of decades ago who also ended up being Jewish? OK Gadaffi and Harrison Ford have something in common.

This is a strongly-held belief among pretty much all the Libyan Jews I know (my wife's Libyan). But the version I heard was that she was kidnapped and forced to marry an Arab. Apparently kidnapping Jewish kids was not uncommon. And Jewish boys were also targeted, to the extent that the Tripoli Jewish community paid for a group of young, good-looking boys to be shipped off to Eretz Yisrael before they were abused.
Gadhafi's second wife and the mother of biological children numbers 2 through 7 (six boys, one girl) is SAFIA (Safiya/Safija) FARKAS Gadhafi. Safia is NOT LIBYAN; she is a BOSNIAN Croat from MOSTAR (of all places). Gadhafi met Safia (then Zsofia or Sofia) during trips to Tito's Yugoslavia in the late 1960s. Evidently Safia was a nurse (!) ... and the daughter of a Bosnian education official. FARKAS, a not uncommon surname in Croatia and Hungary, means WOLF in Magyar (Hungarian). So, Gadhafi's wife was SOPHIE FARKAS/WOLF to her native locals. Safia, Libya's first lady for nearly 40 years, is not well known to the world, and there are few photos of her in the public domain (Web). *Could it be that Safia's ethnicity is the reason why she is so strangely invisible?
Here are some key words (couldn't port the hypertext) from the breaking story that ran last December 11 (2010) on Bosnian state media re. SAFIA FARKAS GADHAFI. The story contains old photos of Safia with a few of her children — who are very recognizable. ;-)

The son of a jewess or not, and whether she was forced to marry a muslim sheikh or ran away from a violent jewish husband what difference does it make to his behaviour? It is not his Jewishness or his non-jewishness that makes him who he is. What is jewishness but a bunch of collective ritual belief that forms a power base for those that belong to it and enemies of those that do not. Same story different characters, dreary dialogue.
I think the same way as Albere. It is not what religion we belong to or what ethnicity we have that matters,
it is our actions, our thoughts, our hearts, our deeds that determine whether we are "good" or " evil". I don't care anything for what one believes privately. That is not my business, but I DO care about how they act. That is what makes Gadhafi evil.

well, apparently many jewish girls prefer arab men. from what ive heard, jews are going around discouraging their women from having anything to do with arab men but thats not stopping them.

30 yrs. ago I lived in Tripoli & knew 3 of Gaddafi's cousins. They said his mother was Jewish & I have no reason to doubt them. There were many part-Jewish people who were Nazis under Hitler & rumours Hitler was part-Jewish abound. I think it is true what one commentator said - They want to appear free of Jewish blood so become anti-semitic. Sick.
