TSA chief John Pistole on using Israeli security methods
Here's CNN's Candy Crowley interviewing TSA chief John Pistole on Sunday. Pistole brings up profiling around the 6:20 mark and just dismisses it as "we don't profile in the US." Well maybe they should. Pistole doesn't seem to think anything physical is over the line. Would you rather be asked who packed your bags and whether they were under your control at all times since they were packed, or would you rather have someone's hand in your crotch?Starting at 10:30 he describes the Israeli system of his own initiative and calls it very thorough and top notch. He also claims that the Israelis use patdowns but ignores the fact that only people who get flagged by profiling get any kind of patdown. Again, doesn't say why profiling cannot be done in the US, just that it's not done. After all, it would be politically incorrect if only male Muslims between the ages of 18-49 got the patdown, even if they constitute 100% of the airline terrorists over the last 30 years.
Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit via The Other McCain).
By the way, Debbie Schlussel wonders whether the TSA employees change their gloves between gropings (I doubt it) and whether there's a risk they could be spreading sexually transmitted diseases as a result. Hmmm.
Labels: airport security, enhanced pat downs, sexually transmitted diseases, strip or grope, TSA

This is just a crock. It used to be that if you set off the metal detector, they would get you to remove any obvious metal that might have set it off and then send you through again. Or they would use a wand to isolate the object that set it off. Why is that no longer done? Is there a relationship between metal and non-metal explosive materials they don't want to tell us about? I doubt it.
And you're right, Carl. To dismiss profiling and treat everyone as suspect is ludicrous beyond belief.
"We don't profile in the US."
We also don't conduct illegal searches and seizures in the US.
Yup. And Debbie Schlussel reports there is a giant loophole in US aviation security John Pistole didn't mention: airport workers and their handling of baggage is NOT screened. That makes all the TSA's gropings worse than worthless. Oh and the restaurants and small businesses in Detroit Metro are owned by Muslims with allegiances to Hamas and Hezbollah. Considering the times I've been through that airport since 2002, I'm lucky I'm still here. For others, there might not be a next time.
What the heck is wrong with Israeli security methods, are apart from the political correctness issue? Pistole didn't cite any real problem with them.
What could go wrong indeed
I hate to mention this, but Americans are almost certainly not going to be willing to restrict hiring for security positions to people smart enough to do Israeli-style questioning and profiling and do it as anything other than a Keystone Cops parody.
Here's an example of why I think this: I read an article last week (don't have the link right now) that said that there was some sort of pilot program to try to do _something like_ Israeli security in America. You know what they do? They stand around at the boarding area just _watching_ people to see if they look distressed or worried! I kid you not. That is why you now have to worry about being patted down in the boarding area even after you have cleared security--in other words, possibly patted down twice or scanned once and then patted down later. _This_ is our stupid notion of "Israeli" security.
Am I saying that Americans are across the board dumber than Israelis? No, I'm not saying that in general. But I am saying that the American government is unwilling to restrict hiring practices *by intelligence* for government jobs.
I knew I was too smart to work for the CIA. I never heard back from them after my interview.
NormanF, you have no life. You camp out on Debbie Schlussel's page from morning to night. Can the word "stalker" best describe you? I understand you are pro-zionism and anti-muslim. but really, you need to get off Debbie's nuts and hang yourself.
