'Palestinians' protest improvements at the Kotel

The 'Palestinians' are protesting an Israeli plan to make improvements at the Kotel to increase space to accommodate more tourists, calling it an 'obstacle to peace.'
The Palestinian Authority slammed a Sunday cabinet decision to allot NIS 85 million to a development project for the Western Wall over the next five years, AFP reported.

Ghassan Hatib, a PA spokesperson reportedly said: "Israel does not have permission to make changes in the occupied territories, especially in Jerusalem."

"This move is preventing us from reaching an agreement, because any solution must include Jerusalem," Hatib added.

The project will upgrade physical and transportation infrastructure at the site, provide access to new archeological findings, and run educational programs for soldiers and students.

The approved plan is a continuation of another five-year project that began at the site in 2004 and, according to a statement put out after Sunday’s cabinet meeting, led to a phenomenal growth in the number of visitors to the Wall, from 2 million annually before the project began to 8 million visitors in 2009. The Wall is the most visited site in the country.
Doesn't it feel good to hear the Kotel referred to as 'occupied territory'? What could go wrong?

We must get these dirty cretins out of Israel. They are denying the Jewish connection to the Temple mount, they are destroying artifacts of our Holy Temple, they spit in the face of G-d himself... Jews MUST rise up against the arab occupiers and destroyers. Kahane Chai!

When Jerusalem was liberated and unified in 1967, Israel never asserted their soverignty over liberated lands. The fall of the al-aqsa mosque would have been the same iconic moment as the fall of the Berlin Wall. That was the victory every soldier fought and sacraficed for. It was the moment every Jew prayed for. The arab armies were defeated. They would have watched helplessly as the Holy Temple was rebuilt and the Jewish Capitol truly restored. Instead the politicians surrendered the Temple Mount to the arabs. They surrendered a war they had just won. As long as the al-aqsa mosque is allowed to stand, the arabs will always consider Jerusalem to be Conquered Land. They will continue to think and act like it is their's.

Like I told Carl - they want ALL of Jerusalem. And they're not kidding.

What interest could a Jewish holy site have for the Palestinians?

Answer: they just have enough interest in it to deny it to the Jews.

What could go wrong indeed
