Insensitivity, State Department style
The State Department is thrilled that they finally got the evil Joooos to agree to pull out of something, even if it's just the northern half of the Golan Heights town of Ghajar (as expected, the cabinet voted in favor of the pullout on Wednesday). State Department spokesman PJ Crowley put out the following statement. The United States welcomes the announcement today by Israel’s Security Cabinet that it accepts in principle the proposal offered by the UNIFIL Force Commander, providing for the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from Lebanese territory in and around the village of Ghajar. The United States encourages Israel and the UN to complete the technical details necessary to implement this proposal rapidly and thereby protect the rights of the affected civilians and further the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), which aims for a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.I'm not even going to talk about the fact that it's not Lebanese territory - it's either Israeli territory or 'occupied' Syrian territory. But the statement about protecting the right of affected civilians cannot be allowed to pass.
Crowly is a moron. (I wanted to add another word before moron, but I try not to publish vulgarity on this blog). As it happens, the 'affected civilians' have been out in the streets demonstrating against the pullout all day yesterday and today. So for whose benefit is this being done? Hezbullah's?

Carl, when you covered this story (last year?), I remember thinking that the people on the Israel side who want to live under the Syria/Leb govts could trade properties with the people on the northern side who would rather stay in Israel. And if they don't balance out, from Israel's side, I would think the Israeli govt could put some Katrina style prefab houses on the south semi circle around the town for those people to live in until they can get their houses sold in the northern half (?) or whatever to get things sorted. Is anyone trying this?
Debbie Schlussel is asking her longtime readers to join her in boycotting Sabra Hummus, Elite candy and Must gum - food products of Israel's Strauss Group after it caved in to the anti-Israel BDS crowd and removed an IDF video from its English language website.
I ask every one in Israel to boycott the company and get its products taken off grocery store shelves. When the chips are down, the company's management wouldn't support Israel and its soldiers who risk their lives to defend its existence.
Send a message they will understand - the one that affects their bottom line.

Stupid Jews!
Didn't the UN declare that Israel had completely pulled out of Lebanon a decade ago?
