Aboul Gheit changes his tune
On Sunday, I reported that Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit had been
critical of the 'Palestinian' insistence on a full 'settlement freeze.'
In remarks published Friday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit issued surprising criticism of the Palestinian position of making talks contingent on the settlement building restrictions, saying the sides should concentrate on drawing the borders of a Palestinian state.
But later on Sunday, Aboul Gheit
changed his tune.
Israeli-Palestinian peace talks aren't likely to resume unless Israel reinstates its moratorium on building new settlements in the West Bank, Egypt's foreign minister said Sunday after meetings with U.S. mediator George Mitchell.
"The Egyptian position is that we understand the Palestinian position, which demands suitable conditions in order to go on to direct talks," Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said. "The conditions are not suitable at the moment."
Now, there's a principled position for you.

The Egyptians are really big on principle... and on having a moderating influence on the Palestinians.
NOT!
Heh
From the article: after meetings with U.S. mediator George Mitchell.
-- Why does it seem that Mitchell changed their mind about the building freeze? Why did obama push for a building freeze in the first place? It was never a demand until obama made it one. This is administration is no friend to Israel, You should not trust anything this administration tells you. As an American I am deeply ashamed of my countries leaders.
