Only in Israel: Jews arrested for praying in a synagogue

This time, it didn't happen on the Temple Mount. It didn't even happen in Jerusalem.

Two Jews were arrested by the IDF for praying in the ancient Naaran Synagogue in Jericho. The other eight people who were part of the minyan (prayer quorum) managed to escape.

I was surprised at this story because it never occurred to me that Jews were not allowed to pray in a synagogue. Or perhaps, this too has been co-opted as a Muslim 'holy site.'

Remember the video I showed you earlier in the week about blowing the shofar (ram's horn) at the Western Wall during the British mandatory period? Things haven't changed too much, have they?

I'm guessing that the synagogue in Jericho is a closed military area and that entry is only permitted with coordination with the IDF.

No, things haven't changed much. HaBusha is that now we are doing it to ourselves. Maybe some are indeed correct.....we don't yet deserve a Nation of our own.
שנה טובה Carl, and thank you for all you do.

The IDF would never arrest Muslims for praying at a mosque. Whoever gave this anti-Semitic order should be shown the door!
