Obumbler calls for freeze extension, Israel says NO

So much for 'no preconditions.' On Friday, President Obama called for an unlimited extension of the 'settlement freeze.'
At a press conference in Washington on Friday, US President Barack said he had told Netanyahu that since the talks were, so far, moving forward, “it makes sense to extend that moratorium so long as the talks are moving in a constructive way.

“Because, ultimately, the way to solve these problems is for the two sides to agree what’s going to be Israel, what’s going to be the state of Palestine. And if you can get that agreement, then you can start constructing anything that the people of Israel see fit in undisputed areas.”
Of course, that agreement could take years to come.

During the holiday, there was no comment, but about an hour ago, the government reacted harshly to Obama's statement. Israel Radio reported at 1:00 am (daylight time) that a 'diplomatic source' stated that there will be no extension of the freeze and that Obama was told that before Netanyahu came to Washington. The freeze was a one-time concession that was made to get the 'Palestinians' to the table, and Israel does not have to keep making concessions to keep the 'Palestinians' there (this has not yet been reported online).

Hi Carl.
First of all I wish you and your family a peacefull year.
Now you will see the real face of Obama towards the Jewish people. Next will be the UN demanding that Israel discloses it's nuclear arsenal, all in the name of peace off course.

It's all no good.

A reasonable Jewish prime minister of Israel would never have gone to Washington in the first place.

A half-crazed prime minister would have returned early last week.

Only an outright idiot prime minister would still be sleeping in Washington DC. That would be our Mr. Netanyahu.

Keeping the freeze in force indefinitely would be politically impossible for Netanyahu to grant even if he wanted to.

So what is likely to happen is the Palestinians are going to walk out of the talks later this month. They are not really interested in peace.

And if Israel has to strangle the revanants to keep them at the table, there's not a peace in sight worth even talking about.
