Here's Elliott Abrams, former Senior Director for the Near East on the U.S. National Security Council, and Deputy National Security Adviser handling Middle East affairs in the George W. Bush Administration, speaking to the Jerusalem Center on Public Affairs in June of this year.

Abrams argues persuasively that President Bush had gone back to the basics of his predecessors, specifically the Johnson administration whose policy immediately after the 1967 Six-Day War was that Israel would not be forced to go back to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines. Abrams argues that Israel must get back to basics and stake out clear positions without being embarrassed to demand its own security.
