Welcome to Ramon International Airport
Israel's new airport north of Eilat is going to be named for Assaf and Ilan Ramon.Assaf Ramon was an F-16 pilot who was killed in a training crash shortly after receiving his wings.
His father, Ilan Ramon was Israel's first astronaut and was killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy.
Ilan Ramon was also the last of the eight Israeli pilots who bombed Iraq's Osirak nuclear reactor.
