If only they were 'closely following' Hamas' treatment of Gilad Shalit

The United Nations is 'closely following' Israel's treatment of three Hamas legislators and a former Hamas cabinet minister whom Israel is seeking to expel from Jerusalem.
Richard Miron, spokesperson for the UN special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said the UN official was concerned over the legality of the deportation threats, and asked "Israel to respect its obligations under international law."

On Thursday, lawyer for elected member of the Palestinian Legislative Council Muhammad Abu Tier, said his client, who was detained by Israeli officials on Wednesday, had his trial postponed.

Attorney Fadi Qawasmi told Ma'an that his client would return to court Sunday, when the judge would hear an extended defense. Officials said Israeli council would ask that Abu Tier remain in custody, while the lawmaker's lawyer hopes to have the case thrown out.

The trial comes after Abu Tier was detained near his home Wednesday under the pretext of illegal presence in the city. He had been ordered to leave Jerusalem, his native city, by the end of Friday 26 June.

Abu Tier and four other lawmakers all face expulsion from Jerusalem, following Israeli court decisions to strip them of their residency cards for the occupied city. The men, all elected with the Hamas Bloc to the PLC in 2006, were targeted because of their membership to the political party.

"We are closely following reports that four Palestinian legislators have received orders for their forcible transfer from East Jerusalem by the Israeli authorities," UN officials said, "We are concerned at all measures which may heighten tension in the city and at the potentially broad consequences for Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem."
In four years, the United Nations has never taken any interest in Gilad Shalit, has never 'closely followed' Hamas' treatment of Gilad Shalit, has never insisted that the Red Cross be allowed to visit Gilad Shalit and has never issued any warnings to Hamas about consequences should Gilad Shalit be harmed or should he not be released.

I'm sure there's some sort of logical explanation for that difference in behavior.

Hmmm.

"In four years, the United Nations has never taken any interest in Gilad Shalit..."

In four years there was not a statesman to be found to put the screws to the UN. (and make no mistake, it could have been done!) Worse, the strongest nation in the world barely made a squeak. So do you find it surprising the UN takes no interest?

The United States have allowed the UN to call the shots for decades on end. I blame the US! And sorry the excuse the U.S is only one nation of many in the UN, is BS!

Jews? What Jews? The fate of those who want to kill them is very important!

Very important!

Their right to "Itbach al Yahud!" must be absolutely guaranteed. And the UN agrees!
