Think Tank: Israeli retaliation should include 'major Muslim sites'

An Israeli think tank has recommended that any Israeli retaliation for a non-conventional attack from Arab countries include attacks on 'major Muslim sites.'
A new paper from the BESA Center for Mideast Security and Policy says any Israeli response to a non-conventional attack from Arab countries must include an attack on sites of “major symbolic importance for the Muslim world”.

“If the source of a terrorist nuclear attack against Israel is unknown, or if it is known to originate with al-Qaeda or Iran, Israel should make it clear that its response will be unlimited and include not just major population centers, but all sites of value, including those of major symbolic importance for the Muslim world.”

“A declaratory policy such as this might be highly inflammatory and further exacerbate the religious dimension of the US and Israeli confrontations with the Muslim world. This policy should therefore not be announced officially, as part of Israel's declared retaliatory posture, but should be made ‘known’ much as the international community ‘knows’ that Israel has nuclear weapons, whether they do or do not in fact exist. The policy can be ‘leaked’ in a variety of manners.”

'A one-time failure to act devastatingly to prevent or retaliate for nuclear terrorism would be an invitation for further attacks and guarantee Israel's final destruction. At present, the state of the threat is such that the need for a change in Israel's deterrent policy is not yet imminent, but it must be followed closely to determine the appropriate timing.'
Hmmm.

problem is, they don't really value these sites. they couldn't care less if mecca and medina are made more flat than they already are. they are emblematic of the arab-muslim world as a whole, its all just a stage for islamo-brainwashing.

Well, in the past Rome's been sacked & the Holy Temple in Jerusalem has been destroyed not once but twice.

I mention the above because islam, in its bloody quest to conquer the world sinces its inception has never really suffered a major faith-questioning defeat along the lines of above, despite its weak foundations.

Sure, you can bring up countries such Greece and Spain regaining their independence (along with Israel) from the islamic imperialists, but I'd argue that they're merely considered by muslims to be "set-backs" rather then defeats in the great scheme of things, something islam believes it can simply roll back in due course.

Since its founding, islam has never really had the pleasure of experiencing a truly catastrophic & humiliating event (such as the complete destruction of their holy sites) where it would be as if their own "god" has forsaken them.

Its damning that Israel is even placed in this predictable situation by the rest of (a mostly miso-judaic) world, who see themselves being somehow immune from islams mission to conquer all under heaven.

You'd have to assume Israel is prepared with a nuclear Iran. That means Israel could no longer maintain a policy of nuclear ambiguity. Iran would have the bomb and there would no longer be a point to Israel keeping its nuclear deterrent concealed. Israel would have to begin testing its arsenal and keeping it upgraded. If Israel is not prepared to attack Iran, that is the only route it can take in the future.

Does this guys actually think that such a policy is not already in place? Dude, If Israel is going down, they are taking a crap load of people and buildings with them. That is why Israel has nuclear weapons in the first place, as a deterrence (in contrast to Iran and NK).

If it has come to this we are in real trouble. If terrorists or their enabling nations go nuclear then someone if going to retaliate eventually. It may not be the US or even Israel.

PS known technical data indicates Israel's ballistic missiles cannot reach all of Iran, but can reach all of KSA including makka and medina. fwiw
