Syria slams US extension of sanctions, transfers missiles to Hezbullah that can hit Tel Aviv
Syria reacted with anger to the United States' decision to extend sanctions against the terror supporting nation.Government-owned Al-Thawra newspaper warned on Wednesday that Washington's move keeps the region in a state of hostility.Well, if the Syrians threaten to end 'engagement,' maybe Obama will relent. But in the meantime, it's come out that the Syrians have transferred M-600 missiles to Hezbullah. The missiles are capable of hitting Tel Aviv.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Mekdad slammed the sanctions and said they show Washington "has lost its credibility."
The newspaper — considered a government mouthpiece — says the move is "disappointing, but we were not surprised."
U.S.-Syrian ties were improving, but tensions reemerged after Israel accused Syria of sending weapons to Lebanese Hezbollah militants. Syria denies the allegations.
Syria has delivered advanced M-600 missiles to Hizbullah within the past year, Haaretz newspaper quoted Israeli defense officials as saying Wednesday. How's that 'smart diplomacy' working out?
The M-600, a Syrian copy of the Iranian Fateh-110, has a range of 300 kilometers and is capable of carrying a half-ton warhead.
If fired from southern Lebanon, the rocket is capable of hitting Tel Aviv.
The latest Israeli claims come only weeks after accusations that Syria had transferred long-range Scud missiles to Hizbullah.
Meanwhile, in another success story for 'smart diplomacy,' Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will be visiting Syria in the near future.

The Russians love Syria.
Russia btw right under the noses of the US has supplied Syria with lots of good stuff which has for the most part been completely ignored. Russia are double-dealers who talk and work from both sides of their mouths. I can see into their soul! (oops, they have none)
Diplomacy!!! Sanctions, weaker then the weakest watered down tea. What of it!?
Truthfully, the kind of sanctions Syria has been slapped with amounts to nothing. During those years of the weakest sanctions Syria only grew stronger.
The trail to Syria extends from Iran, Iraq to Russia, Korea, China and all points in-between. So what? They can even assassinate a head of state.
"Those who harbor and sponsor terror...." Remember those words. What came of it?
Back door diplomacy!! Weakness. Weak sanctions. Weak talk. Feckless accusations. None of them wish to challenge a terror state. Period.
Nothing works with them except a big huge boom over their heads or at the very least, teeth that bite so hard they never forget it. You have to hit them where it hurts. What U.S president has the stomach or support to inflict damage??
We should have taken Putin by the throat and made him stop aiding Iran in their quest to wipe Israel off the map....but did we??
Please inform Syria that in the instance of an attack by Hezbollah, Damascus will cease to exist...
ANd more importantly, when (not if) Hezbollah attack, remove damascus from the globe as a "teachable" lesson
