Obama backing off on Israel?
David Goldman argues that President Obama is backing off Israel for more reasons than the midterm elections. The fact is that America’s strategic position in the region is crumbling:Hmmm. God works in strange ways, doesn't He?
1) Turkey no longer can be considered an American ally; the Islamist government of Tayyip Erdogan has aligned Turkey with Iran against the United States, and is prominently undermining American efforts to impose sanctions on Iran;
2) Iran will probably exercise de facto hegemony over Iraq after American troops leave; and
3) America’s Afghan campaign is going very badly.
The massive investment of blood and treasure in Iraq with a view towards creating a stable, democratic American ally has failed. Turkey, for two generations the pillar of NATO in the Middle East, is off the rails and probably irretrievable as an American ally.
That leaves Israel as America’s last ally in the region with real muscle. And given Iran’s efforts to dominate the region, including America’s Arab allies–Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the Gulf States–America needs Israel more than ever.

All that assumes Obumbler wants to keep an American presence in the Middle East.
The evidence to date if anything, suggests the exact opposite.

this is wishful thinking at best. This presumes that the Obami are cognizant of the damage they have wrought in the region with their apology tour, are cognizant that the 'palis' are not really ready for a state, cognizant that Iran is really a threat, cognizant that the arabs follow the strong horse.
It is a reach ... no ... a fantasy ... to assume anything like this level of intelligence out of the Obami.
The Obama administration is a train wreck of epic proportions, in progress, right now. It is as if every possible bad train has smashed into the preceding bad train wreck ... they keep on coming.
I used to believe it will take decades to repair the damage our current administration has caused. I no longer believe it possible to salvage our previous position.
Obama is the very definition of an epic failure. But the magnitude of the failure is only now being realized, and we haven't even crossed the halfway point of his administration.
People of America, if you can't bring yourself to vote republican this fall, please, use the greens, or tax payer party, or some other group, and throw your formerly democratic vote away. Obama's damage is global in reach, and what we can salvage will take decades.

I feel it also has to do with Jewish donations to the Democratic party.
