Weiner joins Schumer

Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY - pictured here with Defense Minister Ehud Barak) has joined his Senate colleague Chuck Schumer in criticizing the Obama administration's treatment of Israel.
Today, after White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs stated “I don’t think it is a stretch to say we don’t agree with what Senator Schumer said,” which came in response to the senator’s criticism of the Administration’s position on Israel, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D – Queens and Brooklyn) released the following statement to YWN:

“Israel is our closest ally in the region, yet they continue to receive more criticism than deserved and less support than is required.”

“Instead of continuing to lash out publicly at our closest ally, the Obama Administration should be listening to what Senator Schumer says. Schumer is right, and the White House is wrong on Israel.”
Hmmm. Now, if we can get a core group together, maybe we can bring some pressure on the White House.

democrats whom are up for election in November, which are all of the house, and 1/3 of the senate, are painfully aware of how outside mainstream the US administration is. They know full well that towing the administration's line will cost them at fund raising time, and at the ballot box.

Don't be surprised to see more democrats break with the administration on this. There are the standard core of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish congress people. They won't change their stripes. But the rest, those that are clueful, understand that they have placed their continued employment at great risk by towing yet another unpopular, and grossly incorrect position from Mr Obama and his cohorts.

Wouldn't it be ironic if, as a result of the political winds in the US, that the administration found itself marginalized and isolated, thanks to its idiotic policies? It is headed in that direction, as it screws up our alliances and coddles our enemies. How many congress people signed up to this?

Not many.

I guess it is simply a sad statement that those opposing the president and his minions have the benefit of not only taking the high moral ground, but also being correct in their assessment of a correct policy stance. Advice given to the president in private has yielded nothing. I suspect the same will be true of advice given in public. So if the president doesn't have the backs of his congress, how many of them will have his back going forward?

I'd call this an epic fail on the part of the Obami. He either changes his policy or his agenda dies, even if by some miracle, his party remains in power in congress.

The Democrats are aware Obama is not doing them any good. And the health care bill they passed is hated by the country. Ed Koch predicts the Democrats will be washed out of control of Congress and most of the statehouse in the fall. So that is one reason why Democrats are moving away from Obama in time for the mid-terms.
